Fulcrum Clutched October 23, 2002 Share October 23, 2002 I saw in US and many other country's car portals have the Hyundai Lantra. It looks just every single inch like Elantra. The reviews for the Lantra are great! Whats the diff? Anyone know? ↡ Advertisement
Seansene 1st Gear October 23, 2002 Share October 23, 2002 Same thing. Possibly different (larger) engines in the US, but otherwise identical.

Fulcrum Clutched October 23, 2002 Author Share October 23, 2002 Where did u get this from? Elantra in overseas also got up to 2.0L engines.
Seansene 1st Gear October 23, 2002 Share October 23, 2002 Just like we'll never get the 1.8l or 2.0l (or1.4l for that matter) Focus in Sillypore because there's "no market". We usually get the one or two versions that are deemed to sell well and that's it, end of story.
Fulcrum Clutched October 23, 2002 Author Share October 23, 2002 But i jus believe the Lantra will sell like hotcakes in our country. Why don't they bring it in? nvm i ask Hyundai HQ in Korea.
Seansene 1st Gear October 24, 2002 Share October 24, 2002 You mean why won't they bring in the 2.0l? Simple - just look at the buying patterns of your typical Sillyporean: buy a car with the biggest body and smallest engine possible, hence the proliferation of S280 and 1.6l Audis. It's called 'value for money', or so they say... So those looking for 2.0l car immediately go for the Sonata, those looking at the Elantra don't bother with larger engines (too expensive)
Fulcrum Clutched October 24, 2002 Author Share October 24, 2002 I'm talking 'bout the Lantra not 2.0l versions of the cars. See that carsurvey.org also got Lantra 1.6 GLS Manual and auto. Note the reviews for Lantra is much better than Elantra. No replies from Hyundai Korea yet. Still waiting.
Seansene 1st Gear October 24, 2002 Share October 24, 2002 I'm pretty sure they're the same car, just different names. Another example is VW, which had the Jetta in teh US and Vento elsewhere. In fact if you look at the US website there's no more Lantra, it's been "replaced" by the Elantra.
Freemason Neutral Newbie October 24, 2002 Share October 24, 2002 (edited) if thats the case, then it seems like better makes would get their butts to the other side, while puny makes would be kept right here in sillypore Edited October 24, 2002 by Freemason
Fulcrum Clutched October 24, 2002 Author Share October 24, 2002 This is the Lantra:
