Cow28 Clutched October 20, 2004 Share October 20, 2004 I guess and also maybe the companies refused to increase their COE bids... but the number of bidders increases.. I guess there are alot of back logs from the car companies.. The COE pricing will most prob fluctuate at this price. ↡ Advertisement
Trader8 Neutral Newbie October 20, 2004 Share October 20, 2004 You mean smart investors hoping to catch the lower COE prices... What will be the trend be like for the next 2 bidding with the Singapore motor show in between? Thx

DarkLord 1st Gear October 20, 2004 Share October 20, 2004 So now there's a backlog from this round... Motorshow next month.. End of year bonus the month after... CNY after that month... so COE prices shouldn't be dropping anytime soon due to these factors... But what happens after that... Who knows...

Nav14 6th Gear October 20, 2004 Share October 20, 2004 Cat A has shown the largest increase in demand - 3800+ bids as aginst 3100 for the last bidding and 2200 before the annoucement of increase in COEs. So demand has actually picked up considierably and not all go to showrooms to look see look see. However this is for <1600cc especially in view of the increasing oil price rises. Cat B has shown a slight decrease of 1440 bids as against 1505 during the last bidding I think the seasonal demand due to end of year bonuses and CNY has been brought forward. Those who would be buying for CNY would have started buying now and bonuses are really not an excuse any longer since you do not need much downpayment nowadays to buy a car. I do not expect a substantial increase in sales during the Automobile show since there will be hardly any new models available for booking. COEs will fluctuate within 1-2k region till Dec/Jan especially for Cat A where the backlog has to be cleared. But come end Dec/Jan I expect it to go below 20k. IN fact for Cat B the longer it fluctuates around say 21-23k the more likely buyers will begin to relax and not rush to buy. The maximum no of bids of Cat B used to be around 1150 before the increase in COE quota was announced. There will be around 1140 Cat B COEs available for every bidding exercise till March 2005. The no of bids this this round showed a decrease of 65 bids. If prices do not move much the number will gradually decrease further and it will set the perfect setting for a freak result in Cat B category sometime in end Dec/ Jan. That is the best time to try your luck.
Hansia Neutral Newbie October 20, 2004 Share October 20, 2004 Is it better to bid for yourself for Cat E (less demands), rather than getting Cat A from dealer? Any suggestions? What are the things to consider? Thanks for your feedbacks. Not really. Cat E is primarily used for Cat A cars anyway. Prices usually track that of Cat A. Principal demand from dealers stocking up for guaranteed COE for customers willing to pay more. Will have impact later if you wish to renew COE. Check price without COE from dealers first. If market hot, they wont release cars to you without COE attached, or quote you very high price...
