Genie47 1st Gear November 1, 2004 Share November 1, 2004 PM Eskimo if he is still around. IMHO, the 1.6L is seriously underpowered. SERIOUSLY UNDERPOWERED. The 2.0L is much better but with that you get a heftier road tax per year. The Liana actually is a better car. ABS and airbags. The Vivant doesn't boast such impressive equipment for a car that size. Julian Clutched November 1, 2004 Share November 1, 2004 Hi, I been eyeing this Vivant since it's launch as a Daewoo Tacuma. Initially came to our shores as a 2.0l and was somewhat dissapointed as 2.0 high road tax. After a yr+ later, launch the 1.6l but was agian dissapointed as no automatic. If money no issue, i will take the 2.0 as it is more powerful and auto version. I would suspect the 2 version to drink petrol like the Matrix but maybe not as bad as the Hyundai. This might be due to the car's weight but i don't really care abt the FC, what really bother me is the extra money that i have to pay for in insurance and road tax if i opt. for a 2.0l. In my opinion, i will never take the Liana (partly owned by GM also) as the car look so ugly. The Vivant is too attractive to resist due to styling, size and also the number of compartment/storage space... what worry me is the realiablity and also high maintainence if opt for 2.0. At 61k for the 1.6L , it's a actually very good buy as 2 weeks ago the price is at $65k.
Dick Neutral Newbie November 2, 2004 Author Share November 2, 2004 There is always better and better car in the market but hoh I lock my budget @ $60+-k, I like the hatch back more than sedan because hoh the back round round very attractive , that why only these 2 cars are so call within budget lay. 2.0L can not afford lah . Didn't know both from GM, no wander so stingy on freebies.

Genie47 1st Gear November 2, 2004 Share November 2, 2004 (edited) Liana hatch/estate is better looking than the sedan. But in terms of equipment, the Liana beats the Vivant. The Vivant does have the advantage of better styling and maybe seating arrangement. Both are plagued by the same strange engine options. The Liana has its 1.3L underpowered version and the Vivant the 1.6L underpowered version. The US Liana (Aerio) is a rockin' 2.0L AWD! Genie47 1st Gear November 3, 2004 Share November 3, 2004 Search the posts. Eskimo got overheating issues with the 1.6L Vivant.
Eskimo Neutral Newbie November 3, 2004 Share November 3, 2004 I kind of like the look too and the space inside. My only other experience is with a Suzuki Swift so can't really compare very well but obviously compared to the old Swift it is much stable, drives better. The FC for me is bad about 9-10km/litre even after almost 18K km. Overall I feel good about it except the FC. Oh yea, I have had engine overheating problems during bad jams. Starsauto have added another fan to it though to fix it. Dick Neutral Newbie November 3, 2004 Author Share November 3, 2004 Hi Eskimo, thank for the feedback, when you said the FC 9-10km/l, is mainly driving on the highway or city. How long you got your car? the lastest COE drop again, believe the price will drop too , can recommend your SE, is he/she stingy with freebies?
Eskimo Neutral Newbie November 5, 2004 Share November 5, 2004 I have had it for exactly a year, and that time it was $71,999 ! You definitely are going to get it at a very much lower price. $10K less, I suppose. Highway or city driving , well I still haven't figure how to split the ratio since it is not easy to tell, at least for me. Won't recommend my SE to you. Good and nice before the purchase , but service and all after I signed the agreement Oh yes, I find power lacking in the 1.6 model. Have to step more on the gas to get really moving from rest.
