Enjoy every minute of it Surprisingly quiet than my previous ride (Corolla G9)...better sound insulation. Ride is a bit more bumpy; only natural for SUV. Sits in a lofty position and has a commanding view on the road. Definitely the Korean cars gradually evolved with much better equipment level and interior build. Considering the price - Value for money ! I've got mine at $75,888 with Huper Optik solar film thrown in. At this price point, the Tucson offers the space and looks that provide old timers like the Toyota RAV4, Honda CRV or Mitsubishi Outlander a run for their money. Almost $20K cheaper than any Japanese counterpart. Nowadays, most people buy cars to scrap... only use for 3 or 4 yrs. Save the $$$... Regarding the fuel consumption, getting about 9 kilometre per litre...considering with such a heavy body (1.5 Tonne) Do come for the Singapore Tucson Owners Group (STOG) meetup at Bukit Timah Turf City on this Friday (8pm) - car park behind Giant. Alpina Neutral Newbie November 23, 2004 Share November 23, 2004 OMV is extremely low for most of the cars nowadays Government started to make cars very cheap. i.e. reduced taxes imposed, release more COE, etc. (the dream of owning a car becomes a reality for most of us !) However, maintaining a car will inevitably becomes expensive. The effect will set in gradually... More ERP gantries, increased parking rates, petrol prices, ... Just like in Hong Kong, an average Corolla costs about $30,000 but monthly parking fee is $600... The OMV for a Tucson is about $16,500. Almost identical to Corolla Altis. Acemundo Supercharged November 24, 2004 Share November 24, 2004 actually this way of changing the registration system along the way is not fair to owners of older cars. they pay higher registration duties but still subject to same erp. perhaps whenever the govt lowers the registration duties, they should also give a rebate to existing car owners. but then again, i know its fat hope despite being reasonable and logically justifiable. Tucson 2.0A OMV: $16,528 Custom Duty (20% of OMV): $3,306 GST (5%): $992 ARF (110% of OMV): $18,181 Registration Fee: $140 COE (based on Sept 1st tender): $27,799 TOTAL COST: $66,945 Komoco was selling the Tucson for about $81,888 (guaranteed COE) during that time. The engine, drive train and platform used are the same ones inm the tucson.m Eqipment level also similar. The new Sportage shares its basic structure and platform as the Tucson. We shall see fierce and agressive marketing campaign between Cycle & Carriage and Komoco... I understand that there is a worldwide demand for this model and hence the price is a bit lofty. From the coy pt of view, if can sell more, and model is old, of cos margin per car would be lower. However, if model is new, and not sure of mkt perceptions, as well as it's a 2ltr SUV, would you wanna price it too low? So low tat it's the same px as a 1.6M Civic? Are you going to compare the margins that a Merc dealer make with that of Corolla? Or what margins Jaguar make with that of a Suzuki Liana? I think you get the pt. If you are only looking at margins tat the car dealers make, then buying a car becomes so much easier already. Would you do that? Chances are, you wouldn't. For SUV, this is normal. If FC concerns you to a very large extent, then forget about Tucson. In fact, forget about all SUVs. Stick to a 1.6M saloon.
