There are 4 setting for the alarm related to passive/active arms and lock. As others have pointed out, ARM in the manual means the alarm is now active (does not indicate it will lock the door). LOCK means locking the door.

The number shown here tally with the one in the manual.

#3 - Passive Arming. Default OFF.

#4 - Active Re-Arm. Default OFF.

#5 - Passive Locks. Default OFF.

#20 - Passive arming with last door..... Default ON.

Some of the combination that I have tested.

#4=ON + #5=OFF. If accidental unlock, car will auto rearm but will not lock the door. If door is open the alarm will sound.

#4=ON + #5=ON. When the car auto rearm the door will be lock as well.

Not sure why there are two similar testing of #3 and #20. As I do not used this feature, this is based on what I remember during my test. To have the system automatically arm when you last close the door both #3 and #20 must be ON. For the door to lock/not lock when this feature is triggered, depends on #5 setting. So if you have #5, #3 and #20 set to ON, when you close the last door the car will auto arm and lock. There are chances where your key will be locked inside the car.

It will be better if the alarm can detect that the key has been removed from ignition as well and with the last door close, it then automaticlly arm/lock the door. If anyone find out how to get it to work this way, do let all of us know.

For those who get this alarm, basic thing to check/test (best to leave your window down when doing all this):

1. With the CSP arm, try starting the car. you should not be able to and the alarm should sound.

2. Try leaving one door or boot unlock at a time and arm the CSP. CSP should warn you about it, and it's also better to change it to 5 sec detection, option #11. If the CSP did not warn you, it means CSP is not connected to the door/boot sensor. For boot, if you do not have a boot light in it, most likely there is no sensor and if you want the boot detection, you will have to add extra sensor.

3. With CSP arm, try opening manually each door and boot. The alarm should sound. With test 2 above, you will already know which will trigger the alarm. This test is for confirmation only and to test that your pager is working and to see what is display on the remote screen.

4. With CSP arm, hit your tyre. If sensor sensitivity is adjusted correctly, it should gives you a pre-warning. Now hit continuously a few times on your tyre, this should sound the full alarm. This will also test your remote pager and for you to know to differentiate pre-warn alarm and full shock alarm.

5. If you do not have the boot release installed. With CSP arm, press the remote "BOOT RELEASE" button. See if it disarm the alarm. If it did, you need to change #10 to OFF. If you want to disabled this feature, you can change #7 to M.A.P.

6. For those with remote start, try remote start and see if the door is unlock. If yes, change #14 to ON. With remote start, unarm the CSP, get into the car and press the brake, it should cutoff the engine. With remote start, you can press the remote start button again to stop the engine as well.

7. With CSP arm, ask someone to walk away with the remote and go far away. Is good to have handphone as well to communicate. Now with the car key, open the door to trigger the alarm. Bring along the second remote to disable the alarm after a while, or passer by will think you are stealing the car. This will test how far the alarm can reach your pager. The range from remote to car is shorter than the range from car to remote. If you are just testing arming the car from far, this does not give a good idea how far the alarm can page you.

One of my main reason for buying this remote is for the paging function, and so far the range is not good. If your paging range is great do let me know, as it may means my alarm is not properly installed or the unit is faulty.

Don't shout/yell at Ben or the installer if you found out the alarm didn't work the way you wanted it. It may just be the alarm limitation that's all. Is good to know what are the alarm limitation so as not to give your false protection.

Any way, a good alarm will not guarantee that your car cannot be stolen. It's just a deterent and slow down the potential thief.

my suggestion is enable auto-rearm, but disable the lock... in case the keys are inside.

i look at it tis way...if hv :

1. None of both(re-arm n lock) = car is not protected n locked ...as good as no alarm.....Highest Risk

2. Have both(re-arm n lock) = car is protected n locked...Lowest Risk

3. Have re-arm but No lock = car is protected but unlocked, if someone open alarm trigger ...lesser Risk

4. Have lock but not armed = car is NOT protected but locked, its only a matter of time the lock is defeated...as good as no alarm.....Higher Risk

in mice opinion, Option 2 is best, but it runs the risk of self locking the key... so i choose the next best option avail.......

Guys, even alarm setting also hv risk analysis, must of the ABC weightage or the Freq, severity ratings.... and compute total score...ha ha

What to do....thief are getting smarter and more sophiscated...hence the system to make their job harder which means more complicated alarm system.

Just wonder why the alarm manufacturer never implement the option of pressing the "unlock" button twice to actually trigger the unarm and unlock. This will definitely reduce accidental unlock.

They can easily make this an option setting and user get to choose what they like.

if there is a "car-stealer" he would be able to download the operating manual from the website, too.

what we are sharing is how to program the alarm, and the information is in the operating manual.

if we are hidding our reset button or shock sensor, - then we should PM one another or ask you said have a meet-up
