I don't think there is any performance gain. Just peace of mind.

Thanks for the enlightenment, just curious why do you say that if i change gears in excess of 4-5k then it is not critical. I thought that at higer revs more load, wear and tear is expected therefore higher temp.

Can the atf oil cooler be used as an engine oil cooler too? - if possible guess it would be a cheaper way out [thumbsup] . (seperate systems) Thinking of installing an e/oil cooler

Errm...Sorry for the misunderstanding.

I think my previous message wasn't that clear:

If you typically rev to >4-5k and the auto-tranny gear changes then, then it is more critical to install...

I believe it is interchanegable. But with an engine oil cooler, I think you need some additional components (i.e. sandwich-type mount) other than the radiator grill and fittings of the ATF cooler.

Here's a good article on ATF Cooler and Torque Convertors (though written for Nissan cars):

Well, not just peace of mind. Actually the auto gear box needs more cooling when high speed, otherwise auto gear box will fast to dispose when overheated. Alot of Jap. cars did not come with ATF cooler. I think the EVO GTA also didn't (correct me if wrong), ATF cooler will maintain the normal cooling when high Rev so the power will not lose out. I believe they also got the cooler for engine oil.

But seriously, if really at S$150.00 (includes installation) is F**k'g cheap!!! [thumbsup]

Thanks and do you think the installer has all the necessary mounts and fittings?

Least now i know there is light at the end of the tunnel [nod]

Have to agree with you it is F**king cheap. Have to give Vinc a call soon.

Guess the only set back is the amount of atf used during an oil change will be more.

For AutoDynamacs, I simply drove my car there and let them do the rest (everything in for S$150). But as Mondeo correctly pointed out, Conti cars could be a bit more difficult. So best to call them up first to ask and reconfirm for your car...

If you're thinking of DIYing, then you can buy the kit from CS Racing (Perma-Cool). I believe all the parts are included...

Thanks again Wymun, DIYing kind of leceh / messy right? [:/] Anyway will give them a call first then decide to save on installation or not [laugh][laugh]

Hi, just like to ask. Did you find your car more revy and could rev harder before it up shifts?

Cos heard from the Mits MX ppl that it would rev better. [bounce1]

Well, not really. I didn't notice a significant difference to be honest.

Hmmm...Maybe my ATF cooler ain't that efficient?? Then again, I wasn't really monitoring actually (cos didn't expect any difference)....

Honestly, I'm not too sure - didn't ask. But it looks new enuff - though it didn't come in any packaging...

Still Perma-Cool version was only selling for S$98 at CS Racing booth last week (with labour costs, it would prob be around the same S$150 benchmark).

Hmmm..Are you the LordGT who posted in the SG Nissan forum saying that the Perma-Cool has arrived?? How much does that cost (on your end)??
