M5m3 1st Gear February 15, 2005 Share February 15, 2005 Hi Thunder, I've read the few threads about voltge stablizer. not sure whether it will solve my problem (I've posted the same problem under Toyota owner thread). I'm driving a picnic and have been experiencing low rpm, to the extent of getting strong vibration, when I'm slowing down while approaching traffic lights and even when I'm in reserve gear while parking. the rpm will drop to about 600, car vibrate and than go up to about 800. Called bm technician and they said this is the characteristic of this engine. Can only manage the extent of the vibration (both meng kee and sin ming said the same thing). My mechanics said he can modify to by-pass temperature check but wil void warranty (1.5 yrs more to go). So will installing the stablizer help in the low rpm ? Seems like it will from the description of the thread. Appreciate your advice.
Gsl13 Neutral Newbie February 15, 2005 Share February 15, 2005 Why don't u try the Z-stab instead? The guy that installed Z-stab allows u to test drive with the device installed and if u dun see any improvement, u can dun buy it. For more info on Z-stab go to www.Z-stab.com
M5m3 1st Gear February 15, 2005 Share February 15, 2005 sorry i very blur. Is z-stab the same as voltage stabliser ? or is it a brand ? must it go hand in hand with grounding ?
Vidz 6th Gear February 15, 2005 Share February 15, 2005 (edited) bluemice... seems like you are grounding the extractor cover... the brownish "stain" is prob due to the extreme heat generated... my advise is to remove the wire from that point since it does not help anything but may transfer the heat to your battery... Nemesis Neutral Newbie February 15, 2005 Share February 15, 2005 [reply] Is z-stab the same as voltage stabliser ? or is it a brand ? Yes Locally designed and manufactured by our local talents [reply] must it go hand in hand with grounding ? Grounding will be nice, but depend on your need Cheers
Nemesis Neutral Newbie February 15, 2005 Share February 15, 2005 [reply] So will installing the stablizer help in the low rpm ? IMHO, I doubt voltage stablizer will help According to my limited knowledge, VS is used to make sure our voltage out from our car battery is stable so that to have a brighter interior dash and headlights and oso will improve slightly SQ of the ICE since the voltage is more constant Cheers
M5m3 1st Gear February 16, 2005 Share February 16, 2005 well i guess than the question is whether the low rpm is caused by sudden outage of voltage from a weak battery or when the air-con compressor kicks in. I dun know enough about car but it would seem that all are inter-related. Will have to ask my mechanic and for other gurus in this forum to advise. Bluemice 2nd Gear February 17, 2005 Share February 17, 2005 Thanks. Do you think I should relocate it to another location, as it does not help anything in the gnd-ing. Also considering that it looks horrible too. thanks mice
