Renegade Neutral Newbie December 31, 2004 Share December 31, 2004 Of course it does. Or, at least in pics, it does. Its will, quite naturally, cost more, too, I suppose.... ↡ Advertisement
Dtvox Neutral Newbie December 31, 2004 Share December 31, 2004 I personally find the 2.0 as a whole a good package. (Built quality and price wise) If comfort and the feel of driving a continental car is what you are looking for, just go for it. I believe you will be paying around the same price for a Cefiro or a Camry. Servicing cost will be ok as the car only needs servicing once every 15,000 km. That would probably be 1 year of driving (conservatively). Can't be that much compared to other makes. After warranty period, you can easily source for other workshops handling VAG cars (and they are good at their job and cheaper too). Also the 2.0 unlike the 1.8T has less problems to worry about. (not that the 1.8 is problematic) The fact that is does not have a turbo makes is less of a worry in terms of maintenance. The Skoda 1.8T seems to be a good choice also as it is priced relatively similar to the Passat 2.0. But there are other 'cost' that you should consider. Here are some brief comparison between the two: 1. Car Prices (Similar) 2. Insurance Premium (1.8T - very high, 2.0 - like most sedan) 3. Road Tax (1.8 vs 2.0 - not much difference) 4. Fuel Consumption (Normally aspirated vs Turbo charged) 5. Agent (Both will need to improve in terms of service) Conclusion - you decide

The servicing items & charges are the same for both Passat 2.0 & 1.8T The only is that 1.8T has a additional unit of a TurboCharger that doesn't mean additional maintenance furthermore if the TC blow, the whole car still can functional but don't have the feel of TC kicking in [reply] 1. Agree Service need to improve Juz my $0.
Chermin Neutral Newbie January 8, 2005 Share January 8, 2005 a friend manage to get this at $100k I believe. Dtvox Neutral Newbie January 9, 2005 Share January 9, 2005 Wow, that's quite a drop. Not sure if the drop is related to the COE or the annoucement made by VW Asia.

Nemesis Neutral Newbie January 9, 2005 Share January 9, 2005 [reply] Not sure if the drop is related to the COE or the annoucement made by VW Asia. Could it be Protowagen (No offence to VW owners) Cheers
Dtvox Neutral Newbie January 9, 2005 Share January 9, 2005 The thought of Protowagen is quite scary actually for VW owners. Look what happened in China for example. The whole roads are filled with VW and my bro-in-law (I just found out) is driving a VW Santana. I thought Santana last production was in the 80's. Yes they came out with one (only for the China market) and apparently it is a 2.0T as well. Going price around RMB 200,000 (SGD 40,000).
