Any Good/Reliable Workshop To Do General Checks

Brudders,

My current ride is a 2001 G9. My odometer is close to 70K and the last time I went BM was about a year ago. In between, I have been doing only normal servicing (Spark plugs, Oil filter, Engine Oil change & Air filter) and car is in pretty good shape.

I was thinking of going to BM for them to do a thorough check (fanbelts, coolant, brakes, transmission oil, fuel filter, timing chain etc) to ensure everything is OK and also fix my creaking driver seat and vibrating the HU. But I heard it will cost a bomb and also BM service level has gone down. So my question is.... Are there any good reliable workshop that can do the same thing without waiting the whole day, don't con and is reasonably priced?

I face a similiar problem also. My car is near 80k and requires major servicing and change timing belt.

I think the major servicings should be done by the agent, as they are more competent in that aspect. For minor ones, normal workshops will do.

For my upcoming 80k servicing, C&C refused to change my brake pads to Mintex, as they only endorse original parts. So I've decided to change the pads elsewhere, before doing the 80k servicing. The Pro-Serv at Toa Payoh, which I have just been to, is efficient. I drove in at 8.20am, and by 8.50am I'm off. I did enquire about major servicing and changing timing belt, the staff claims they are able to do it in half a day.

 

You can ask around with the more reputable workshops.

My opinion is don't succumb to car dealers. Outside mechs are perfectly competent of doing regular servicing. For larger jobs like changing timing belt or overhauling engine then search for a specialist.

 

I suggest trying mechs that others have experience with.

 

I recommend Ah Lin at Blk 29 #01-215, Sin Ming Ind Est. He is a old timer with car servicing, plenty of experience with Jap cars.

You can try those workshops approved by AAS. They should be competent enough.

The Pro-Serv outlet at 355, Commonwealth Avenue (Shell Petrol Kiosk) twds Queensway (after Queenstown MRT) is not bad

 

Look for Derrick or Ah Tiong at 6473 4445 .
