Curious...is their 98 same as ours? I tried but got a feeling that their highest grade perform worst than our 95. Not sure if it is psychological effect. [:/]

Maybe...but I don't really think so. If the ECU reads that there is too much fuel for this power setting, it will send less, that all, meaning the fuel is leaner for the piston, in turns mean higher temperature for the piston. Then the water pump and radiator fan might have to work harder. unsure.gif maybe, just stick to my economy driving.

I think you have hit the nail on the head....in fuel, there are 5 conponents, light to heavy for power and economy respectively. The oil companies, take away all the chemicals and minerals, add in cheap additives to bridge those gaps....in this case of 95 and 98 in Malaysia, it depends on the companies to deliver or make up the additives. Now there are also cases in Singapore decades ago that kiosk sells 98 fuels, mixed with 95, hence, it has the same effects as you said. These are the possible scenarios there.

I read that the magnetic field can possibly affect the ECU performance rendering it quite messy on articles...if I am not wrong was on Wheel or Carma a few months back.

It is just like in the movie where all the cars were down after the Alien invasion struck earth with lightings which create strong EM Wave, causing all the car ECU to malfunction.

Have been using the DIY magnet in my Octy, so far so good.

Felt better response, especially when air-con is off. FC wise not sure is it improved by it as I fix the magnet and change rim at same time. FC is 10.5km/l (with 17" BBS rim) as compare to 9.5km/l (with 15" stock rim)

The article mentioned that long term on Magnetic stuff is a concern and they recommended try not to involve. However, they do say that it is a concern but not proven or validated as it takes long running study to conclude. Unfortunately you going to scrap the car liao...else, we can use yours as "test sample". [sly]
