Sawing Gear Shift

I'm looking at sawing my gear shift to make it look shorter and sportier.

any side effects ?

You will have to shorten (the distance travel) it from the joint. I think some modification is needed. The gear knob height will still be the same.

The advantage is faster gear change.

sawing off the gear shift will result in gear knob height being the same ?

i'm not looking at a short shifter, just some cheapo diy.

If you lower the height of the gear shaft, wouldn't it be difficult to reach and change gear? I don't think that's a good idea.

only thing u might not be able 2 fit back ur original knob.

Alot of K-11 owners saw off at least

20mm from the gear stick..

 

Looks more sporty and no side effect.

The gears still shift as normal except

longer throws..

 

My ex K-11 gear stick was sawed off 30mm

and have changed the gear Gaiter (rubber)

too.

ermmm i also saw off my van's gear shift.. ahhaha looks nicer onli...

side effect is...

- u cant use back those screw on original gear knobs

- gear sticker abit harder to shift cos its shorter so requires more power to shift the thing

- once cut ... u cant change it back unless u change the whole stick

 

by the way "sawing" tat stick is a sweaty job if u are using a normal bench saw... took mi half and hour of sawing to get the thing out...

cool but remmeber to cut abit by abit.. more sweat but worth it den like wat my fren does.. one shot cut until so short... now super hard to shift.. ahahahahah
