Not recommended, unless PI can sell you at 20% or less from what CnC is offering.

Reasons are as follows:-

1) Warranty claim issue - this could be a pain in the @$$ when you need to do followup, especially agent like CnC (they may not even entertain you). Not sure if VW Asia has any "policy" to protect PI buyers like what BMW used to offer.

2) $$$ save vs problem - The MkV GTi is a fantastic ride, but not one without the normal hiccups for new model. So save a few $$$ but need to waste time to resolve problem later = not worth the time & $$$

3) The difference with the spec between PI & CnC are minor (ie. not engine nor performance related)

You can still change to any 18" rims and have the peace of your mind knowing that your car is under agent warranty. (Having said that:- not saying that CnC did a fantastic job for their customers)

4) Go to VAGSG and check with those MkV owners. You can get a better perspective from an existing owners about the issues they may had encounter till date. This will give you an idea whether you want to risk getting a PI car.

Thanks so much for the informative reply!

The PI told me they paid endorsement fee to CnC so I can send the car to them after that. But, not sure how true it is, they can said anything before you buy.

Called another PI selling the same GTI also tells me CnC can service because it comes with International Warranty. If I prefer, I can go to his friend workshop specialize in VW. He also said can upgrade the GTI from 200BHP to 250BHP with extra cost. But didn't ask him for details because I think the GTI is already a speed demon. Maybe after the warranty.. haha.

Anyway, will take your advice and THINK again.

Thanks!!

Post: PI says can send to VW workshop? Which one? CnC? i don't think they will entertain PI cars......

So far I noticed 3 PI selling this. 2 in Ubi AML and 1 in Telok Kurau area. Only called the 2 in Ubi and they both said can send back to VW service.

Just share with you guys what the PI told me. I also doubt so. Anyway, will update her if I find out more.

Cheers! [sunny]

eh... who's driving one?

5k first servicing, next at 15k, after that 15k intervals...

dude!

haha... sorry.. mis-com!

Actually I wanted to find out from existing GTI owner whether the maintenance $$ for such car is high or not. Especially when come to 30K or 45K service.. what is the average $$$ in servicing.

Thanks anyway! [wave]

You'll only have to pay $95,000 - $105,000 thereabouts if you bring in on your own instead of relying on parallel importers.

I think there're plenty of VAG workshops around so I don't think its an issue.

Remember Euro (German particularly) specs are much higher compared to what you get here.

Normal servicing is not at issue. But you will need to think about ECU upgrades and re-call issues.

But if you are going to chip the car up, than ECU upgrades need not to worry.

If you run into problems with the car, support wise is still quite scarce. Due to the GTI is a new engine block 2.0T FSI. If you have a DSG box, even newer.

ya.. thought of that too.. thanks for the advise. Basically, I always don't trust the workshop outside. Heard too much unhappy stories. The technology today is so advance, wonder how the mechanic catch up. They have to attend to so many different car makes and models. Trial and error??
