Kianbeng Clutched April 21, 2005 Share April 21, 2005 This is a pretty technical question. I hope I can get some advise here. Otherwise, I'll appreciate if anyone can direct me to any website/forums which may have this answers. Here's my question: I have a input signal (with HPF at 150Hz) and I want to add a LPF and HPF at around 2KHz, such that I get 2 outputs. Output 1 at 150Hz - 2KHz and output 2 at 2KHz onwards. What's the exact capacitors should I get? Is there a place for me to find the formula to calculate this? I know the easiest way out is to buy a electronic crossover and just turn knobs. But I'm keen to build this myself for the purpose of learning. It's very interesting actually..... Thanks ↡ Advertisement

Kianbeng Clutched April 21, 2005 Author Share April 21, 2005 (edited) No. I meant a capacitor used for filtering high frequencies. ie, a 1uF capacitor.... edit: or even a coil....for LPF... Edited April 21, 2005 by Kianbeng
Anakin Clutched April 21, 2005 Share April 21, 2005 Do a search on the internet lah ... seen a few sites where people DIY make their own crossovers.
Wbucket Clutched April 21, 2005 Share April 21, 2005 Might be someone here who can help you. http://forums.delphiforums.com/diy4fun/start
Kianbeng Clutched April 21, 2005 Author Share April 21, 2005 There are hell lots of information out there. Such info is definitely on the internet. I'm aware of this. But many a times, I come across crossovers which are designed for 8omhs speakers...or with 110V....or with other scenarios different from mine. I'm looking for such info based on 4ohms speakers, 12V, blah.....I haven't found any which is of use to me yet. Bear in mind that the question I asked is specific. Not a question which has been asked many times again and again. As such, I don't understand why you have to say "Do a search on the internet lah". I can easily go into another thread where ppl ask about "How's the performance of xxx" and I just easily reply "Do a search on the internet lah". This doesn't help anyone. Maybe I'm lousy with searching. Maybe you shouldn't make such comments. Maybe I just had a bad day.

Wbucket Clutched April 21, 2005 Share April 21, 2005 I guess giving useless advise is a waste of resources and time. We all start somewhere somehow sometime. So let's be friendly and help each other here.
Wbucket Clutched April 21, 2005 Share April 21, 2005 There is another audio forum that is coupled to this DIY one. It deals with the non-DIY stuff, do take a look. These forums are all about ICE and these people are quite serious 1. But still search using their search function to avoid repeated topics. Here's 1 more that I don't understand, seem a little to deep for me. You can try. http://www.the12volt.com/index.asp
Anakin Clutched April 22, 2005 Share April 22, 2005 no problem. the above DIY forum is best for your need i guess . the below one is about ICE but less DIY: http://forums.delphiforums.com/CarsSoundSystem/messages
Kianbeng Clutched April 22, 2005 Author Share April 22, 2005 Hi wbucket, The delphi forum is exactly what I needed man. Infact, I also found the 12volt.com website from there. And they are all very good. Think I always saw some of your posts there....
Wbucket Clutched April 22, 2005 Share April 22, 2005 Just trying to help. Although I am new in term of ICE too.
Kianbeng Clutched April 22, 2005 Author Share April 22, 2005 That's alright. 2 months ago, I know nothing about ICE. Now I'm picking up interest....but more on DIY so as to learn. Btw, I'm not a engineer unfortunately so I have to learn whats a uF, mH....blah....not easy. Should have studied engineering. ↡ Advertisement
