Hi fellow Chevvy Enthusiasts,

I own a Chevy Optra5 Sport Hatchback.

I am thinking about sending my car in for the light tune package Power II at McWell Ventures. See following link:

http://www.mcwellventures.com/cms/index.ph...=137&Itemid=164

Any more seasoned modders can offer some useful advice on the package components? You think it is a good deal? Would the mods be effective in granting some additional ponies in terms of horsepower?

Appreciate any advice. Thanks.

so which package you goin after ? The top end one ? I personnelly prefer the 2nd package with the crank pully. but its hefty to dump all that in a new car. But if you get them one by one, it will indeed add up to their usual price, so savings wise, its definitely suppose to be there. somemore its one stop do all. got problem, u only go back one place.

think they will try to squeeze it in. But dun think its universal, like rims, there may be difference btw car make. But changing to lighter lighten the load to rev, so pick up improve, but at the same time, due to lack of weight, the car may decelerate pretty fast too, and it will take time for it to climb. Quite ideal for a sporty drive. Wonder if my logic is correct, any expert want to comment ? or in the first place, that is not the function of the crank pully [laugh] well, I am a car mech bump.

IMHO, i think its way over priced and some items may not yield the horseys. why dun you install one by one... this way you will kknow what works and what doesn't.

Err, once I pay for it and it is installed I would probably have to live with it [:)] whether it works or not.

I am still researching each component individually on the internet on other car forums or review websites. Gimme a bit of time I will compile as many links and post it on this forum.

I am thinking that McWell packaged all those components together to because they supposedly work well in combination, hopefully not my naive thinking. They would probably have to select the ones that match with my Chevvy also.

I am going for the lazy approach, have to back it up with some good research.

Let you know what else I can find.

Yeah, I think so and have been told so too.

If you seach McWell on MyCarForums, there are posts that confirm that McWell is more on the ex side but they do quite good installation work; supposedly neat and tidy.

Anybody else have good auto accessory shops to recommend? If so do share or PM me. Thanks.

lots of car accessories shop have this gadgets just that they dosent come in a package form....i have the light tune package less the MV fuel charger...all stuff is bought seperately....as for crank pulley, not many places have change for chevy car b4....think likewise for mcwell....if u intend to change it, do have to take some risk....recommended basic light tune stuff would be grounding, volt stab, K&N filter and spark plugs....would cost frm $320 - $400 depending what brand u take.

IMHO, please don't waste your money on such packages... It's not cheap... and the performance that you gain from paying such price is really unacceptable....

With that kind of money, here are some suggestions...

Crank Pulley, exhaust system, piggy back the ECU..... <<< With these you can feel EXTREME drastic difference in your car performance...

Once all these done... you can fix the groundings and voltage stabilizer....

Just my 2 cents...

Brothers all,

Thanks for your advice. I will be really thinking hard on going for the light tune package.

Likely take brother Bluewinds79 advice and just go for the gounding, volt stabiliser and K&N filter. I will likely change to dual titanium (long-life) spark plugs only after 10000km or more.

This will buy me some time to investigate enhancements to the exhaust, crank pulley and piggy back in the longer term as suggested by brother Japz.

Looks like I still got a lot of research to do [scholar]

well, hope after the done up u will enjoy ur ride more....grounding, VS, spark plugs & filter will improved ur ride slightly, if u looking for a drastic improvement do look in the areas that bro Japz had mentioned....but then tat would mean u need to forgo the warranty... [:p] ....but who cares... [laugh]

so have u install those items???
