I just bought a set of MB Quart Discus Series 6.5 inch component speaker with titanium tweeters and crossover. Need some advice on how to setup/connect my HU, amps and speakers.

I am using the following in my Aveo Hatchback:

1) Alpine 9853 touch sliding HU with built in 7 band eq, time correction, 3 RCA pre-out(front, rear, sub).

2) Cadence CEQ770 7 band Parametric Equaliser with subwoofer control. 1 RCA input, 3 RCA output (rear, front, sub).

3) AudioBank M5 monoblock amp 1300w max, 1 X 350w at 4 ohm.

4) Cadence 12 inch single coil subwoofer 300w rms at 4 ohm, 650w peak in a DIY 1.25 cubic feet box.

5) 4.5 inch front door stock component speaker wit 1 inch tweeter mounted in A pillar, 20w rms, 40w peak 4 ohm. (selling away)

6) 4 X 6 inch speaker at rear above boot. (remain driven by my HU now)

7) 6.5 inch component speaker with 1 inch tweeter and crossover 50w rms, 120w peak.

Is it better to buy 1 X 4 channel amp or 2 X 2 channel amp? I need at least a 2 channel amp now to drive my MB Quart front component. But if I add a 6 X 9 speaker in the rear, I need the other 2 channel. I got friends telling me that 4 channel amp always have noise, and its better to get 2 X 2 channel amp. So which is better?

Also in order to use my time correction function in my HU, do I need to use all the 3 RCA pre-out from my HU? If I need to use all 3 pre out, then I need 2 X 2 channel, bcos if I use 1 X 4 channel, I will not be able to use both the HU front and rear RCA output right? I am currently using only the HU front RCA pre-out to connect to the preamp's RCA input and the pre amp output the RCA to supply to my monoblock amp.

My new speaker haven connect yet. Planning to leave the rear 4X6 inch connected to HU and install a amp to power the new front speaker. So 4 or 2 channel amp? CEQ770 still needed?

So how should I connect, should I use my Cadence CEQ770 or take it out from my system?

Any good 4 channel amp abt 75-110w rms per channel? I was quoted Helix amp at 4 X75w rms at 4 ohm for $500 including installation of my front component speaker, is it ex? Is the amp good?

if you want to keep your monobloc for your woofer, you will need another 2ch amp for the front speakers. rear speakers are quite small (even if it is 6x9) & can be powered by your HU. if you don't like your monobloc, then a 4ch amp will suffice for your woofer & MBQ. the rest will be redundant or up to your installer to advise how best to utilise them somehow.

theoretically 4ch will have more 'noise' but that doesn't mean it will be noticeable. for the good ones, it will be beyond our normal human ears anyway. some incompetent installers may blame those aeroplane 'noise' on your equipment & that is the 'noise' they will be talking about. better get a competent one (with good feedback) to do your system.

Yes. Its Dark Blue amp. U heard before? Its 75w rms per channel for 4 channel amp at 4 ohm. Its $480. Is it good?

Hi Anakin, I will be keeping mine monoblock amp. Its really good and powerful for my 12 inch cadence subwoofer.

I am thinking whether to get 2 X 2channel amp for mine front and rear speakers or 1 X 4 channel amps.

Also the ability to use the wonderful function in my HU. Bcos if not utilise, it will be quite wasteful to have such a good HU.

yes, the monobloc should be good for your woofer. so u need a 2ch or 4ch. if u want to keep you old 4x6, no point use amp to drive, the hu is enuf so a 2ch will suffice. if u change the rear to 6x9 or another set of comp speakers, then a 4ch MAY be required (depending on speaker demands).

the 3 preouts will be utilised, whether it's a 4ch + monobloc or 2 x 2ch ammps + monobloc. don't worry about that point.

the TC is a good feature for SQ (some even say MUST HAVE!), so get some competent installer to tune it for u.

look around for 2-channel, mid-priced second hand amps to power your MBQ. managed to get my hands on a second hand Lanzar Opti amp (the old SL series which is made in the US [sly] ). very clear and clean sound.

to be blunt, the DSE2.16 are only entry-mid level component speakers, don't bother with exp amps which are way overkill unless u plan to upgrade your components in future

Hehe...thanks for all the help.

I got myself a Cadence Z series 4 channel amp. Its 75w rms X 4 at 4Ohm.

I only use 2 channel of the amp to connect to my front MB Quart Component Speaker. The other 2 channel left unused.

Maybe in future I will add 3 way 6X9 speaker about $200+ for more mid bass at the rear bcos still have 2 channel unused. Now mine setup is more or less SPL mixed with SQL. Mine rear 12 inch Cadence subwoofer driven by the monoblock amp is boomy at low bass and the front component with the sharp tweeter is giving me crisp and clear pop songs. The level of music seems to rise from the floor/leg area to my ears. And there is no more saturation no matter how hard the mid bass is or how sharp the music is. Mine front component handle it very well compared with the stock brandless 4 inch component speaker and tweeter.

I am quite amazed this Mb quart speaker can producs clear music yet quite loud mid bass. I enjoy it a lot.

I got one question, how come the crossover have 3 points which the tweeter can choose, I suspect its the crossover point which determine from what frequency and above the tweeter will receive the signals. Which one to choose? Mine MB Quart speaker only come with installation manual and no instruction manual. Anyone have?

The shop aunties who sell me the Mb quart also ask me to use Lanzar 2 channel 600w max amp. But I heard from other forum the Lanzar power is often overrated and for sound quality I should use better amp. So i dont dare to try lanzar. I use cadence bcos I know cadence's power is rated in rms, so 75w per channel means 75w compared to others whose value may be max value and rms may be quite low.

Hi How much did you get your MBQs for? Just curios, DSE 216 and DSD 216, what's the difference? Do you know? Thanks.

DSD? Maybe older model I think.

I know I open up the box, the DSE216 is the package name for the set of DWE160 (if I never remember wrongly and PWE somthing tweeter with another model name cross over.

There are different package with different 6 inch woofer and tweeters and crossover. So DSD should another combination.

I will go home and check mine component's model and post it later.

I got them for $300+ from a fren's reccomendation. I only buy from trusted shop bcos there is a lot of immitation for MB Quart now. If you want, I can help u get, but u must come my house collect, petrol very ex...haha.
