Acemundo Supercharged May 16, 2005 Share May 16, 2005 hehe....sorrie ah.......i don't mean to belittle ur wife. the only thing is that, significantly more ladies don't want or cant' drive manual keke.....i think if u really enjoy driving or has preference for torque, definitely it has got to be the 1.6 twinport ↡ Advertisement
Genie47 1st Gear May 16, 2005 Share May 16, 2005 Being the economy driver, I hit 5th as low as 55kph and usually cruise at 60kph on the 50limit roads.
Aspri Clutched May 16, 2005 Author Share May 16, 2005 One more question (ok I'm lying - I may have more). I also noticed that there's quite a bit of noise intrusion. Is that wind noise from the mirrors or is it from the stock tyres (Bridgestone Turanza)? I was expecting the cabin to be significantly quiet as the doors are all so solid. Does it happen to you too? Aspri Clutched May 16, 2005 Author Share May 16, 2005 No worries lah. She's asleep now!
Magfocus 5th Gear May 16, 2005 Share May 16, 2005 Its the tyres...i am changing tyres very soon. they are the culprits.
Magfocus 5th Gear May 16, 2005 Share May 16, 2005 I have tried but i cant! The gearing for the Astra is simply too tall...
Aspri Clutched May 16, 2005 Author Share May 16, 2005 Thank you for verifying it. They'll definitely be the first to go as far as I'm concerned. It's a real shame as it spoils the whole experience (and also the lack of a proper armrest)!
Magfocus 5th Gear May 16, 2005 Share May 16, 2005 The only model with a proper armrest is the Astra Turbo Mine is aftermarket as well. Its something most of us Astra owners did when we got the car.
Acemundo Supercharged May 16, 2005 Share May 16, 2005 hehe.....hope u enjoy ur new astra
Genie47 1st Gear May 16, 2005 Share May 16, 2005 Yes I've been told the Turanzas make you very tulan over the noise.
Magfocus 5th Gear May 16, 2005 Share May 16, 2005 The turanzas are seriously a bunch of monkeys. They grip pretty well tho..
Aspri Clutched May 16, 2005 Author Share May 16, 2005 Any pictures? I hope one can get a better job outside than AE!
Magfocus 5th Gear May 16, 2005 Share May 16, 2005 To be honest, its really hard finding one, unless you get the Astra turbo seats with the foldable armrests. the AE one is one of the best ones around...
Aspri Clutched May 16, 2005 Author Share May 16, 2005 Still considering though. Perhaps Focus 2 or not at all. If only someone wants to sell a second hand Astra...
Magfocus 5th Gear May 16, 2005 Share May 16, 2005 Actually, why not wait for the new focus? That would be an even better drive... If i could have waited, would get the new focus
Aspri Clutched May 16, 2005 Author Share May 16, 2005 I'm definitely not whipping out my cheque book just yet. My wife ain't a Focus supporter. She feels it's too "high". I don't even know how she got that idea after sitting in her friend's. Any idea when the new Focus will be out?
Magfocus 5th Gear May 16, 2005 Share May 16, 2005 Launching this weekend. I know what you mean about sitting high. when i got my focus last time, i was constantly looking for an imaginary height adjuster! you do get used to it after a while..and it provides a good driving position...a good view of the road ahead.. Aspri Clutched May 16, 2005 Author Share May 16, 2005 That's interesting. To be honest, I never sat in one before. The new Focus' interior looks a lot like the Mondeo. I think I can afford to sit back a little for the time being and see how Opel responds to the launch of the new Focus 2. I'm sure a little price adjustments won't hurt! Maybe a test drive is at the horizons for me. RM, here I come! ↡ Advertisement
