Problem when car start

My car had this problem for quite some times since being rear-ended. Whenever I start my car, the rpm was at 200 (that's very low) for few minutes before slowly up to around 400. After I drive for quite some distance, the rpm will then stay at normal 800. Is it due to faulty spark plug cable or dirty plugs?

Even @400rpm, most of the engine will cut out once you engage the gear. Are sure the engine speed is correct.

I assume 400 rpm is the idling rpm. If he's driving a manual car, can tap the accelerator slightly to bring the rpm a bit higher before engaging the gear. That way the engine won't die off.

Does your car have auto-choke? Example previously, when you first start the engine, rpm will be slightly higher initially (maybe 1500 rpm ~ 2000 rpm), and then drop to around 800 rpm ~ 1000 rpm after a while?

Have to rev a bit higher at between 1k - 1.6k to change gear. If normal rev to above 2k, the engine will roar. Last time, my car hit 90km at 2.5k rpm. Now 90km at between 1.6k - 1.8k rpm.

seems like ur idling a bit low...perhaps u wanna adjust to abt 1k idling. if too high, waste petrol.

 

do check ur auto/manual choke...too, may be faulty.

I don't think my car have auto choke. Previously when I start my car, the rpm will be at around 800 for few minutes before maintain at 1k.

mine dun have any idling prob when use mineral. when i switch to syn oil, need to step accel before start car...anyone kw why..heard starting need more petrol + air - hence the additional pump of accel.

yup very low, the whole car are vibrating.

 

I thought only motorcycle then got choke

mine used to be below 1k idling..wah car vibrate like craze....now no more such symptoms after adjust 1k idling. cars do come with auto or manual choke...but not sure iszit all cars.

I tried tapping on the accelerator pedal before starting the car. It work as the rpm was like normal 800. But when I drive off, the rpm drop again to miserable low

Btw where's the auto/manual choke normally located at?

try on a/c...the choke shd cut in...hence maintain the rpm

shd be at just the outside of the cabruettor. size of golf ball. mine located near windscreen direction.
