Sky8807 1st Gear May 24, 2005 Share May 24, 2005 Fuel Consumption Not good - abt 11+ km/l average Any known problems/issues to look out for check out the aircon - repair very expensive ck pwr windows ensure they work properly and correctly brake light ck they work properly - brake s/w made of plastic and fragile engine vibrate during idle - shd not be too excessive Spare parts I normally go to agent to buy, common items can get from spareparts shop at verasammy rd Any good workshop Have not tried any of them, so no comment What's the fair depreciation value to purchase at if 2nd hand. eg Oct 2002? thanks for reading. Shd not be more than 4.5K per year after discount parf. Ex-fabia owner

Lightspeed Clutched May 24, 2005 Share May 24, 2005 You might wanna check with C708 and AJedi as well... they're currently driving Fabias Eyeing the nicely kitted silver one?
Sky8807 1st Gear May 24, 2005 Share May 24, 2005 (edited) Anytime. I did some writeup many moons ago in the Skoda forum ( can't remember whether in the original Delphi SOG forum or this one) on the performance and test I did in NS highway. I drove up on several occasion to Malacca, Genting, Bk Tinggi and KL during that time i owned the fabia. Feel free to ask any Questions, can be technical and specific also, if I can remember can answer U or else ask the current fabia owner in the forum. Cheers Edited May 24, 2005 by Sky8807
C708 Neutral Newbie May 24, 2005 Share May 24, 2005 (edited) Sphinx, To answer your qns..... Fuel Consumption > This is relative to different drivers, figures obtained from one Fabia would differ from another because of driving habits, and as u'd probably can conclude no one persn has similar driving habits Any known problems/issues to look out for > Fabia 1.4 8v has 2 inherent problems, they are power steering sensor, & water pump. The original batch has quite some problems regarding these two documented problems. Dunno if they've been rectified or not. Spare parts > Might be a concern here cos the Fabia 1.4 does not have a parallel VW sibling here. CA doesnt exactly have ample stocks of these items in their inventory Any good workshop > refer to a thread posting for workshop / spare parts stockists for details What's the fair depreciation value to purchase at if 2nd hand. eg Oct 2002 > A good price for the car would be about a few k above paper value, thats what dealers are touting these days for resale cars, u should go beyond 5k for a resale car Hope that answers your queries Edited May 24, 2005 by C708

Sky8807 1st Gear May 25, 2005 Share May 25, 2005 comfort and handling very good. travelling at 140km/hr conversation inside the car just like normal, no need to raise your voice. in fact at 160 km/hr noise level is low, lower than elantra my previous ride. handling is precise and good compared to other makes of the same cc. a solid car and able to make quick and safe turn when required. There was once I had to make a turn last minute in KL - kuantan h'way, I braked slowed down and make a 90 deg turn without any problem, was impressed and suprised, that was my experience
Ajedi72 Neutral Newbie May 25, 2005 Share May 25, 2005 So far I have no real issues with the car ... as for fuel consumption agree with Pete ... driver habits play a big part ... when I was driving daily to KRANJI from Bishan on SLE ... I easily clocked 12-13km/l ... but now that I'm at depot road and the jams ... 9-10km/l ... Look out for the aircon ... hav problems with the recirculation button ... keeps going off by itself ... other than that its still a great ride!!! Sky8807 1st Gear May 25, 2005 Share May 25, 2005 Agreed that FC depends on many factors. But can't run from the average of 11+. Best is ard 13+ to 14 worst 8+ to 9. That my findings after 3 years ownership. When the ignition off, or finish your trip and car key taken off, next start the re-circulation button is open. this I suspect is a safety feature. Vit4wd 1st Gear June 27, 2005 Share June 27, 2005 The Fiat Punto 1.3 might give the Fabia a good run for money. Have you ever considered Fiat? The extensive warranty is very impressive.
