Bro, I got a ques here. I was wondering if I off my engine but the system still on does the system run on the capacitor's electrical energy first or still from the car battery ?

 

still frm the battery.....ur sub-woofer will function normally due to the capacitor 'boost'...if no capacitor....within sometimes...the sub will not function properly...it's the sub amp that drained the most current..

So how will be the connection of the capacitor like?

 

I saw that mine cadence 4 X 75w amplifier has a port to connect to capacitor. Do I connect from there? Or connect at the battery straight away. My monoblock amp doesnt have any connection for capacitor, duno why.

 

Mine monoblock amp is driving my 12 inch sub at 350w rms and 1300w max. Mine 4 channel amp is powering a front component and rear 6X9 speaker at 75w rms per channel, the peak power for the 4 channel amp is 800w.

 

I think even if I on my volume to max, the peak power will only be 350w rms for monoblock amp and 300w rms from 4 channel amp right? Total only 650w rms. Or should it be 1300w+800w = 2100w.

 

I think I read from some web site, 1 farad for every 1000w system, if 2000w need 2 farad. But I never remember it states rms or peak?

 

Now I am thinking whether I need a 1 farad or 2 farad capacitor. The price difference is quite great. $180 for a cadence red 1 farad with voltmeter reading and $300+ for a 2 farad one (rectangle one).

hey bro...check with you har...you know how to dismantle head unit from car ?? think all car should be roughly the same right...i driving a sunny....think of installing a woofer on my own...

Yes and no...

 

there is this plastic cover for the HU. Normally that's the most difficult part to remove. Once you are able to remove that, I should be able to help with the rest.

you know how usually is all this cover tighten ?? by clips or but nuts ??

the plastic is by clips. at times, you need some special tools to remove..

 

For example, we have a hard time trying to remove the stock HU for aveo the last time..

bro,normally head unit will come with 2 metal piece,like a keys.just slot in both side of the head unit and pull it out ,before pull it out .check the top and bottom of the head unit to see any metal clip holding the head unit ,if not just pull out the unit.

If anyone need to remove HU for aveo or speaker or door panel, I can help u, bcos I did mine a few time. Initially also very difficult and scary, scare will break it.

I planning to install my 2 component speaker and subwoofer powered by 4chan and 2chan amp. The above setup need a cap? cause my new car have lousy maint free batt.

Are u driving a N16???.........If yes, shld be fairly easy......on the top there is this compartment with a lid.....

 

1) Open up the lid and pull outwards towards you..it shld come off easily

2) Then it shld reveal 2 screws.....unscrew them

3) then open the ash tray area.......take out the ash tray....there also reveal 2 or 4 screws.......

4) Check any other screws securing the front instrument panel......just to double confirm......

5) once the whole front panel is removed.......you shld be able to unscrew ur HU from which have screws securing the HU to the side metal frame.....

 

I've sold off my N16 1y+ back liao......hope I still can remember the screws and stuff......but its not difficult at all......hope it helps......otherwise, can call me if u live in the west so I can pop by to help u......I DIY my last ride also.....If ur previous installer lazy to dismantle the front panel.....then its even easier.....just use the tool that comes together with ur HU.....slot into both sides of the HU and pull them out.....but N16 seldom installer do that....I forgot the exact reason liao....Enjoy ur DIY

the reason I installed the P.C cos there was a drop on power whenever I blast my music.

 

After the installation, my voltage seems to be be more stable.

part of y the power drop (ie ur lights start to blink is cos of the installation of the ICE>... factors like grounding and circuit breakers..

 

power capacitor also help to give power to the amps..but sometimes when ur amp sucks like hell.. still can see the drop in power.. my 2 amps power hungry man.
