Personally I think option 2 sounds more exciting but the initial 15 mins with all 20 cars on the circuit doing hot laps sounds a little too short.

Agreed. It's a knockoff stage, based on pure speed, with no worries about fuel. How can it not be exciting?

The old format in 2002 is the best, 12 laps shot out at any fuel level, any amount of tyres, and no one knows the numbers of pit stop they will be doing......is it more exciting.
