Familymanz 3rd Gear August 16, 2005 Share August 16, 2005 I change mine last week (after 19+ mths).... but then, everything is still ok....still give me healthy crank every morning.... But as we are going on a road trip to Terengganu, the mechanics suggest tat I change as their gadget indicate tat batt is not so good (check @ SPC where I have our free road trip inspection & @ Autobac, where I reconfirm batt status) Normal Maintenance Free Batt should last abt 2 yrs.... like some said... there are signs of batt konking out.... But if u wanna play safe.... change every 2 yrs lor....

Tien Neutral Newbie August 18, 2005 Share August 18, 2005 i cant remember the exact "low" volt reading. but if you look at a volt meter for car batt, you will see at least a blue/green/good zone and red/bad zone. needle in red/bad zone, just change lor! Tien Neutral Newbie August 18, 2005 Share August 18, 2005 not old also got swelling leh ya, that's why i usually use the swelling as first sign, then monitor the early starting-up as 2nd sign. the last sign will be when i need to crack a few times before the engine can start. hopefully... still can start for the last time that is! hahaha
Tien Neutral Newbie August 18, 2005 Share August 18, 2005 on batt thingy... i remember during my father's days... one can actually "recharge" the batt with a recharger plugged into wall socket.... something like how one recharges a handphone these days. of course, this wont bring the batt back to "like-new" status but it does prolong the useful life of the batt. with our new tech MF batt, can still do that or not huh? Chevro Neutral Newbie August 19, 2005 Share August 19, 2005 Woh, can not afford voltage meter but have multimeter. I believe the voltage meter just a normal meter + threshold voltage + LED. Once we have that threshold Voltages, and multimeter widely used and more accurate, battery life can be judged. That's why asked. I guess once voltage below 12 consided something wrong already, since working on should slight above 12V.
Chevro Neutral Newbie August 19, 2005 Share August 19, 2005 Smtimes just die suddenly, even no swelling. Simply can look at light. Once battery weak, it will not so bright and yellowish. This happen on my prev ride, but not so accurate.
