the 2nd day after i told my car back from workshop, i went out for drinks with a friend. while i was heading home in one of the LDP highway in petaling jaya, there was a gen 2 and Camry over take me like a flash. me and my friend was thinking whether follow them or chase them, is about 5 to 600 meters away from us... started to chase them, but Camry went home after the 800 meters. so, chase the gen2, is not easy, (my car km/h meter is not functioning) i over take him at 6000 rpm and around 0.8 bar of boost... is a hard time to get him near. Suspect the gen 2 is driving around 180km/h more and less. is really fast.....

Just came back from Genting Highland. Second trip by fabia. Handling and performance still good, but to my suprise the car is capable of 180km/hr. I actually clock 178 km/hr but still can go because can feel the car had not reach its max yet. The accelerator pedal was not at the bottom yet. Last check was in 2001 where I manage to confirm the manufacturer top speed of 163 km/hr. During that time, car was still new and did not want to push it further. On my trip up, I hit 170 km/hr and was quite satisfied already but was surprised even when on the way home that it actually hit 178 km/hr and yet capable of going faster. I can simply assume the car is capable of 180 km/hr or maybe more. Car configuration, standard except for a piece of super fuel max magnet, which I find not much different driving in s'pore. Engine oil is syn base and only additives added was motor-up that's all. Car condition mechanically okay, problems encountered before the trip and kiv are 1. air-con slight leaking at the connection but still cool because only very slight leak and will take about a year to affect the air-cond coldness. 2. Water pump slight leak, but did not fix beacuse its expensive and had been monitoring it about 2 month before the trip, still okay after the trip. Just sharing my experience.
