  1. The Cor/Sun were popular models not too long ago, when we woke up and looked out our window, we see many of them. Now no more. Which models you think will be the NEW Cor/Sun by the end of 2012?
  2. Before i start, i need to apologise to everyone whom i know want pics... i charged the batteries, cleaned out the lens, made sure i took the camera.... but i left the memory card at home On Sat 24 June, there was a drag day at heathcote park in victoria australia. I didn't take part this time (the sera would have been munched to bits and pieces) but went to the drag day as part of a "pit crew" Started the day driving 300km to get to the track. It would normally be a much shorter drive but courtesy of the fog and the blind leading the blind, we missed the first turnoff by 78km . During the drive it was cold enough that frost started to form on my side mirrors On reaching there, the first few cars were just getting on the track. We had a few skylines (r32-r34), S15 silvias, the usual fare of civics and teggy's (including a H22A powered eg on slicks ), one WRX, one Evo 9, one GSR, one celica, and one s2000 among others. there were quite a few modded Mazda 3 sp23's and the car that has got a new found respect from me... the hipporollas!!! All the hipporollas were NA, and bar the two H22A powered cars and the celica, they beat ALL the other NA cars!!! Don't ask me what they did but they were consistently getting low 14's on the wet track. And even though it was by less than a second, even the modded DC2's and DC5's still lost. Naturally the S15's owned ALL the fwd and rwd cars (which was expected) with all in the low 13's. Mind you, the GSR was the only car to get past the 13 sec mark, and all the other awd's were running times similar to the s15's. (I'm sure all the car could get better times, but with the track remaining v.cold, and wet/v.damp throughout the day traction was an issue). the skylines were running similar times to the hondas, but were not as modded. Pitty the R33 was running cheap tyres as it was basically wheel spinning at every gear change.... I reckon it would have given the s15's a run for their money. this wet track also highlighted how much safer awd is for normal street driving with very little to no traction loss of the track even with the clutch dumps they were doing. Whatever the case, go the hipporollas!!!!!!!
  3. OWNERS of more than 4,200 Toyotas here will soon be asked to send their cars to distributor Borneo Motors to fix a flaw that could cause the vehicles to stall. The recall affects mainly the Corolla - Singapore's best- selling car - and comes just weeks after another Toyota recall that affected about 5,000 parallel-imported models. The latest exercise involves cars made in 2001. Besides the Corolla, the Echo and Prius hybrid are also affected. The fault, which affects a small but undetermined number of parallel-imported cars, lies with a sensor in the engine. This is similar to a flaw that triggered a massive recall of nearly 33,000 Nissans here in 2003. Borneo Motors said it will contact owners. It said the faulty sensors will be replaced and expects each replacement to take around two hours. As with all recalls, the manufacturer will bear the costs. While the recalls may be seen as chipping away at Toyota's strong reputation for quality, one observer said the manufacturer may be 'over-cautious'. Last week, Toyota recalled some SUVs in America because of faulty clips that could cause the cars' carpeting to move out of position. In Singapore, the number of vehicle recalls tallied by the Land Transport Authority for the first five months does not show Toyota having more recalls than other makes. Out of 23 reported campaigns, three were by Toyota. Nissan and Isuzu had the same number, while Volvo and Citroen each had two. But because of its bestseller's position, Toyota's recalls affected 5,099 vehicles in the first five months, compared with 1,337 Nissans and 274 Isuzus. The spate of recalls has yet to dent Toyota's appeal, going by the response to its new Camry. Borneo Motors managing director Mark Choong said that it has collected 'hundreds' of bookings for the big sedan ahead of its arrival next month. The car starts at $86,988 with certificate of entitlement. ------------------- From July 20th's Straits Times.
  4. as above, i wonder if any of u noticed this. i've seen alot of G9s and Altis in accidents. juz last nite, i saw another one. Altis frnt bonnet crushed. no other cars were ard. seems like the driver smashed his car straight at the divider at the junction of Bishan Road and Bishan st 21. i myself drives an Altis and found the steering too light on stock rims. not sure how much heavier the steering will be after changing rims but the steering is really very light. 1 finger can turn the steering on a bend at low speed already. it's juz crazy!
  5. Read couple of days ago that BM will source Corollas named Corolla Altis from Thailand from next batch onwards? It seems quality is better and the cars will come in 1.6, 1.8 litre configuration with VVTi technology. Why don't they add in a Corolla GT model like the good old days?
