Kiasu kiasi a bit. https://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/singapore/rockmelons-listeria-affected-source-australia-sold-in-singapore-10015508 SINGAPORE: Two consignments of rockmelons imported from a grower that has been implicated in a deadly outbreak of human listeriosis in Australia were sold in Singapore between Feb 12 and Mar 2, the Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA) said on Monday (Mar 5). The rockmelons from these consignments were sold at Sheng Siong supermarket outlets and wet markets. AVA has since worked with importers to remove the remaining unsold rockmelons from the affected consignments. Upon AVA’s notification, Sheng Siong voluntarily removed the affected rockmelons, it added. "The recall has been completed. There has been no further import of rockmelons from the affected grower since, and import has been suspended," AVA said in a press release. The rockmelons originated from a specific grower in New South Wales, Australia in February, AVA said, adding that it has also taken samples of locally sold rockmelons from other sources for food safety tests, including testing for listeria. AVA added that all rockmelons currently available for sale were not implicated in the recall. Advertisement AVA said in the press release that it worked with importers to remove the remaining unsold fruit after the Food Standards Australia and New Zealand (FSANZ) notified them of a recall in Australia of whole rockmelons. It is also following up with FSANZ for updates on the case. AVA advised consumers who suspect that they may have purchased the affected rockmelons within the affected time period not to consume it. Those who do not feel well after consumption should also seek medical attention. WHAT IS LISTERIA? Listeriosis is a bacterial infection caused by Listeria monocytogenes, which is found in the environment, such as soil, water, and faeces. The incubation period of listeria ranges from 3 to 70 days. A person with mild listeriosis usually has fever and muscle aches, preceded by diarrhoea or other gastrointestinal symptoms. Pregnant women, the elderly or individuals with a weakened immune system are at highest risk of serious disease, which could include brain and heart infections or complications in the foetus. Listeriosis is treatable with antibiotics if diagnosed early. The key to preventing listeria lies in safe handling, cooking and consumption of food, AVA said. "As rock melons are typically eaten raw, thorough washing of the raw fruits is advisable before consumption. Consumers should seek medical attention as early as possible if symptoms appear within 70 days after consuming Australian rockmelon," AVA said. 3. After a recent spate of engine fires, Ferrari has officially issued a recall of the 458 Italia. According to the automaker, an adhesive used to attach a heat shield under the rear fender can ignite under high temperatures, leading to a larger fire in the engine bay. We've seen at least four cases on the internet of flaming 458s like this one, and while we can't say for certain, it would seem this adhesive is the likely cause. Ferrari has designed a new heat shield that attaches with rivets, negating the need for the adhesive. Naturally, 458 owners are urged to call a dealer to schedule an appointment for the free fix.

Toyota, Honda recalling vehicles for possible brake fluid leaks The Detroit News / 9hrs 20mins ago Advertisement Honda said it would recall certain 2005-2007 model year Acura RL sedans and Honda Odyssey minivans from the 2005 to early 2007 model year due to brake fluid leaks. Japanese automaker Honda Motor Co. announced the recall of nearly 528,000 vehicles worldwide Friday due to a defect with the cylinder that holds brake fluid. Why never recall Airwave? My 2007 Airwave front brake makes lotsa squeaking sound and leak out lotsa fine powder even though i replaced with new brake pads. Any Airwave bros here encounter same problems.

  7. Subaru has issued a recall for 1,585 2010 Subaru Tribecas for mispositioned door latches. Apparently, during production some door latch cables were installed improperly, so that when the window is rolled down the cable might catch in the door glass regulator, and that will open the door. The recall has begun and Subaru dealers will fix both latches for free. If you are one of the affected, you can find the full report from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration

  11. Fuji Heavy to recall more than 850 Subaru vehicles over brake system flaws [/size] TOKYO (AP) -- Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. is recalling more than 850 Subaru passenger vehicles over possible brake system flaws, the company said in a statement Friday. The recall covers two Subaru models Impeza compact car and Forester wagon, but it was not immediately known if any exports are included. Improper fitting of the air cleaner case could trigger vibrations while the car is being driven, and its parts could rub against or damage the brake pipe, the company said. The problem, in worst cases, could cause brake fluid to leak and braking functions to fail, Fuji Heavy said. Kyodo News agency said the recall may be expanded to 4,100 of the models that had been exported to the U.S., Europe and Australia. Company officials were not immediately available for comment.
  12. OWNERS of more than 4,200 Toyotas here will soon be asked to send their cars to distributor Borneo Motors to fix a flaw that could cause the vehicles to stall. The recall affects mainly the Corolla - Singapore's best- selling car - and comes just weeks after another Toyota recall that affected about 5,000 parallel-imported models. The latest exercise involves cars made in 2001. Besides the Corolla, the Echo and Prius hybrid are also affected. The fault, which affects a small but undetermined number of parallel-imported cars, lies with a sensor in the engine. This is similar to a flaw that triggered a massive recall of nearly 33,000 Nissans here in 2003. Borneo Motors said it will contact owners. It said the faulty sensors will be replaced and expects each replacement to take around two hours. As with all recalls, the manufacturer will bear the costs. While the recalls may be seen as chipping away at Toyota's strong reputation for quality, one observer said the manufacturer may be 'over-cautious'. Last week, Toyota recalled some SUVs in America because of faulty clips that could cause the cars' carpeting to move out of position. In Singapore, the number of vehicle recalls tallied by the Land Transport Authority for the first five months does not show Toyota having more recalls than other makes. Out of 23 reported campaigns, three were by Toyota. Nissan and Isuzu had the same number, while Volvo and Citroen each had two. But because of its bestseller's position, Toyota's recalls affected 5,099 vehicles in the first five months, compared with 1,337 Nissans and 274 Isuzus. The spate of recalls has yet to dent Toyota's appeal, going by the response to its new Camry. Borneo Motors managing director Mark Choong said that it has collected 'hundreds' of bookings for the big sedan ahead of its arrival next month. The car starts at $86,988 with certificate of entitlement. ------------------- From July 20th's Straits Times.
