  1. From Sept 16, the Land Transport Authority will start replacing 380 electronic signboards on the expressways that provide motorists with real-time information on traffic conditions. In addition, the LTA will also install 70 new signboards along four more arterial roads. The LTA said in a statement on Friday that the new Expressway Monitoring Advisory System (EMAS) signboards on the expressways will allow "better capability and flexibility in displaying textual messages and simple graphics in up to seven colours". "These enhancements will improve the readability of the messages and allow motorists to make better informed travel decisions through graphical representations," added the statement. Expected to be completed in 2017, the improvement works will also include 13 new signboards along the Central Expressway, East Coast Parkway, Pan-Island Expressway and some stretches of Bukit Timah Expressway. The signboards on the arterial roads will be located in areas such Upper Jurong, Mountbatten Road and New Upper Changi Road. LTA said these road corridors were selected because they are highly utilised by motorists and serve as alternative routes to the expressways.
