  1. I understand such batteries were installed as OEM in some vehicles by the manufacturers as early as 1997. Vehicles with such batteries are equipped with SMART charging systems therefore it's best to replace with similar types so as not to cause damage to the vehicle's ECU. Anyone with new rides that come equipped with such batteries as OEM.
