The accident happened at about 3am on a slip road on Bukit Timah Expressway towards Woodlands. It is not known how the two vehicles collided. The impact was so great that the lorry spun a few times before stopping, Lianhe Wanbao reported. The lorry driver, believed to be 59 years old, was trapped in his vehicle. The front of the sports car, which was about 80m away from the lorry, was wrecked, with a fallen bumper and a broken windscreen. The lorry driver was pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene, a Singapore Civil Defence Force spokesman said. His family members were at the mortuary yesterday but declined to speak to reporters. The New Paper understands that the sports car driver, who is in his 20s, had minor injuries. IN SHOCK He was seen sitting by the road in shock as two friends comforted him, Lianhe Wanbao reported. It is believed that he initially refused to go to the hospital, but was later sent to Tan Tock Seng Hospital. He was later arrested for causing death by a negligent act, said a police spokesman. Police investigations are ongoing.
