  1. Ok, the title might be slightly misleading, but there is still a Japan-link. So, pufferfish. Specifically, a wikipedia entry called Pufferfish mating ritual. Long story short, one particular species of pufferfish make complex geometric circles in the sand to attract a mate. And this particular species is found only in Japan. It's beautiful. It's bizarre. And it's absolutely amazing. From the wikipedia entry: In a 2014 documentary by the BBC, narrator David Attenborough describes pufferfish as "dull, almost to the point of invisibility. But to compensate, he is probably nature's greatest artist." Cracks me up.
  2. Since the 1.4L A14DMS engine that the new Aveo boasts have the VGIS, below is a link to Autozine's Technical School on VGI. Please note the technology is not new and lots of non-motorheads will think that it is VTEC but it is not. Have a good read. http://autozine.kyul.net/technical_school/...ch_engine_2.htm Read about the SAAB Variable Compression engine. I remembered about it and realized GM owns SAAB as well. The prototype is a 1.4L turbocharged inline-5. Fascinating! Prime candidate. Very exotic!
