Letís keep this report short and sweet, mainly because the Red Bulls have made it another 1-2 victory over in Istanbul Turkey. The 2011 Turkish Formula 1 Grand Prix was basically won from pole position. Sebastian Vettel led from the pole even with 4 pit stops, his team mate Mark Webber coming in second and a surprise third by Fernando Alonso driving the Ferrari. This marks a bounce back of sorts for Ferrari as this third placing is the teamís first podium placing of the year.

Fourth went to Lewis Hamilton, fifth Nico Rosberg and sixth Jenson Button. Aside from the usual Red Bull has become unbeatable, it was a decent race with a lot of overtaking. I have to commend Nico Rosberg for aggressively holding back Fernando Alonsoís charge. While it led to a lot of post-race complaining from Alonso, it did lead to a great race and good driving. Alonso was also in a race long duel of strategies with second placed Mark Webber so I suppose he had good reason to complain that a slower Nico Rosberg held him up after one of those pit stop race strategy stuff. But it is good racing nonetheless.

One good case of really aggressive driving is eighth placed Vitaly Petrov driving the Renault (Lotus Renault GP). I believe that this chap is still young and he seems to be trying to overtake at every opportunity. Give him a few more years of experience and he will be a driver to reckon with. As an example on Lap 2 he tried to go up the inside of Michael Schumacher and knowing Schummi, he pinned Petrov hard against the apex of Turn 12 but that aggressive stunt It didn't work as Petrov got past Schumacher and ran across his front wing, forcing olí senior race driver Schumacher into a very early pit-stop. I suppose this also ruined Schummiís chances of getting in the points. But it is racing. Things happen.

And in conclusion,it was a good race with 73 pit-stops. Records show that this is the most in a purely dry F1 race. Last time in the mid-2000s, Istanbul Park was known to be one of those tracks that no one could overtake from. I suppose the new Pirelli tires, the KERS as well as the DRS systems are working well to ensure lots of drama. From tires that arenít that durable, more power and aerodynamic efficiency down the straights due the KERS and DRS, the 2011 F1 looks to be one with more racing, regardless of the fact that Red Bull Racing seems to take position one and two almost all the time.
