The new Pulsar offers a wide number of safety features usually reserved for premium or luxury models including the marque's advanced Safety Shield - essentially a suite of systems and technologies which offer a fully comprehensive 'safety net' for drivers.

Through the Pulsar, Nissan offers a wide range of turbocharged engines starting with the 1.2-litre DIG-T powerplant, which provides 113bhp of power while a higher 187bhp rated 1.6-litre petrol engine will join the range early next year.

A 1.5-litre dCi oil burner generating 108bhp and 260Nm of torque will also be available.

The new Pulsar engines offer adequate performance levels and deliver emissions lower than 95g/km and are linked to an advanced XTronic automatic transmission.

The long 2,700mm wheelbase and clever packaging has resulted with 692mm of rear knee room, which the marque believes is more room than what several compact executive cars offer.

Also, the compact footprint of 4,385mm, makes it easier to park in tight urban environments like Singapore.

The new Pulsar hatchback goes on sale in Europe from Autumn 2014.
