No prize for guessing which car this lovely 'heart' belongs to.

An ice-breaking game got the event started. Participants were asked candid questions to keep the mood casual and cheerful.

A representative from Continental Tyres then gave a product presentation highlighting the features of the firm's new models. The simple presentation also gave members a deeper understanding of how desirable characteristics of a tyre are achieved through the use of different materials and the design of the tyre's threads.

Last but not least, Davin from Sonax giving the members a quick demonstration of a proper car wash, wax and paint protection.

Car owners are advised to use a 'three-pail rule' to minimise the occurrence of swirl marks on the car's paintwork. Although this technique may not totally prevent any damage, it can substantially reduce the chances of scratch marks on the paintwork.

While many car owners have opt for resin or glass type paint protection, Davin explained that the gloss achieved with such methods is one notch below conventional car wax or polish. However, the tropical climate in Singapore means that conventional car wax will last only up to two months.

Davin also presented a new product from Sonax - XTREME Protect+Shine - which acts as a paint sealant. The sealant can last up to six months. The audience were impressed with the immediate effect of Sonax products on the paintwork, such as enhanced paint gloss and minimal water retention on the paint surface. This in turn will help to keep the car's bodywork clean over a longer period of time.

The event concluded after Davin's demonstration, with elated faces and more often than not, questions on when the next MCF event will be held.

  • Manchester United's "promising" transfer window should be taken with a pinch of salt

Having followed this club for more than 20 years, I'm well aware that a promising transfer window does not directly equate to an improved season. Forwards Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, as well as Diego Leon, the young Paraguayan wing-back, have been Manchester United's signings for the 2025 summer transfer window so far. On paper, this team should have no problem challenging for silverware. On the pitch, the current crop of players finished 15th last season. While both Cunha and Mbeumo ha

Japan is weird. I love it (Part 9)

You know when you go to a mamak shop or Good Price and see those brightly coloured plastic toy 'instruments' that you would buy for kids to bang away on? Well, someone (Japanese, of course) had the idea to basically turn that into an actual musical instrument.  I present you: The Otamatone.  The Otamatone originated in Japan in 1998, thanks to the creative minds at CUBE Works and Maywa Denki. This playful music instrument boasts a quirky, note-inspired design that has captured the imag

The enduring charm of Singapore wet markets

I know I’m idealising it all - as a not-so-young millennial that can’t remember the last time he cooked a full meal for himself. (That was probably a good two years ago.) But moving on slightly from morning walks now, the space I’ve found myself frequenting when I feel like I need a break from the routines of everyday life (or to simply clear my head) isn’t the park. It’s the basement level of Punggol Plaza. That a wet market even exists here should be surprising. Punggol, after all, is qui

    Big things are funny things

Being anywhere tangentially close to current affairs news right now is deeply depressing. In so many ways, the world seems like it's going to s*it.  In a bid to escape all that and cheer myself up a little, I've been recently amused and moderately infatuated with randomly huge things. Here are just a couple that make me chuckle:  Yup, the world's largest chair. I also find the name of the company, XXXLutz, incredibly funny and more than a little blue.  Otto the ot
