Say hello to the new Ford Focus.
This stunning new model is set to make heads turn.. It has all the hot-hatch ingredients with massive driver appeal, a handsome look to it, and technology that is up to date. Set to go on sale in 2010, the third generation of the family car will showcase a dramatic new look that’s backed up by a range of hi-tech small- capacity turbocharged engines. I like that.
There will be new turbocharged EcoBoost engines to keep CO2 emissions down. Entry-level models will come with a 1.0-litre four-cylinder turbo unit offering 89bhp or 108bhp, but most variants will get a new 1.6-litre turbo, available with 148bhp or 178bhp outputs. The fuel consumption figures and CO2 emissions will make the people from Green Peace happy.
All engines are mated to manual boxes as standard, but Ford will also offer its Powershift twin-clutch transmission to rival the German DSG gearbox seen in the Golf GTI. Start-stop technology is set to be rolled out across the range, too.
I must say the rear end of the car is a little awkward, but the front, boy it looks good.. I think the Focus deserves this makeover. The previous facelift was rather pointless as it looked virtually the same apart from the Mondeo looking front. The Focus has always been an underrated hot-hatch here in Singapore, hopefully this does the Dark Horse some justice.
