Jk_nathan 1st Gear March 28, 2016 Share March 28, 2016 (edited) Hi, Good for u that u dont have any major issues on your A3. Wish I could say the same for mine. Still the A3 is a great car in spite of the repair to my car's clutch. As for the horn, well, its up to Audi to add it in future models. But I'm certainly going to try aftermarket solutions to change this, for my family's safety. Best Regards Its the same for A3 or any other models in audi. We have a A3 in our house and no issues yet after 2 years other than regular servicing. Hope this helps to future buyers. Hi, Good for u that u dont have any major issues on your A3. These issues I highlighted do not severely compromise the car's quality or performance. Just some small nitty gritty stuff. More like annoyances. I mean who wouldn't everything to be perfect when they buy a $130k++ car in Singapore? Still these issues can be lived with. I just take it that the car has character. Would you believe it if I told you I pushed the car to 178km/h on the north south highway in boleh land. Steady as a rock the car was. Amazing! Jk_nathan 1st Gear March 29, 2016 Share March 29, 2016 Nathan : Is the noise from the clutch intermitten ? I think i having same issue too...did PA replicate the noise during your servicing ?Hi, The noise occurred in my car during moving off. The car could still run along fine except for the mechanical noise. PA told me its got to do with clutch. The idea I got was tat its some kind of "matching" between the engine and the clutch installed. This "matching" is not done in factory. Just install and forget. So after a while the clutch starts to become "noisy". At least this is the layman idea I got from them. I'm no expert at this. Anyway, after repair by PA no more noise but I observed a drop in fuel efficiency. So I did a sw remapping for dsg and then everything is great with the car. This remapping actually improves the infamous 2nd gear poor response. Best Regards Nathan : Is the noise from the clutch intermitten ? flashbang Turbocharged March 29, 2016 Share March 29, 2016 VW/Audi really screwing things up with their gearbox. When are they going to release a new gearbox and regain the confidence of their customers? I wouldn't want to be driving a "ticking time bomb"... Hi, I wanted to ask if you also observe this with your car. Whenever the engine start/stop is activated, and when the brake is released, the engine comes to live. Then there is a delay before the clutch engages and the car starts moving. PA mechanic told me that this delay is supposed to be about 3 seconds long. He mentioned that this delay is for the driver to engage the paddle shifters if he/she wants to. However, in my observation, I feel this delay is too long. Sometimes so long that the driver behind me will sound his horn, or overtake me and give me an evil look. If I want to move off faster and step on the accelerator, there is an effect of like "throwing the clutch" similar to when you release the clutch too fast in a manual car. Except, here the engine does not stall, just that there is a loud "thud" sound. I think they are working on a 8-speed gearbox A3. I think the A4 has it, not too sure. Best Regards Do you get this sound every time the gear changes? For me usually in the morning when engine is cold, sometimes I got clack clack sound when I accelerate hard esp in gear 2. But sound goes away after driving a few minutes. Anyone else experience this? I am wondering whether this is normal.

The sound comes only after driving quite a while (probably second half of the day). ↡ Advertisement
