IPAD docking station at the headrests for Mercedes and BMW cars

The IPAD is now making its way into BMW and Mercedes Benz. Those large tablet computers have officially made their way into the cars of both manufacturers above with slightly bad (read; ugly) looking docking pods at the headrests of the front seats of their cars.   Unlike those LCD/TFT screens you see built in the head rests, these are too large and no way integrated into the car

Car camouflage secrets revealed

You've all seen how car manufacturers do teaser shots before the launch of a new model where they sort of drape some kind of cloth over the entire car leaving just the headlights visible in a cloud of darkness, giving you the sense of irritation and urge to find out more about how the car looks. And when its finally revealed, sometimes it just doesn't look as good as it did in your head. Apart from that, there are always spy photographers who stalk new models as if they were Hollywood paparazzi,

Eos gets a makeover

Four years after it hit the market, Volkswagen is giving the Eos coupe-cabriolet its first cosmetic makeover. The facelifted model, which will have its world premiere at the Los Angeles Auto Show in late November, goes on sale in January 2011.   The exterior restyling brings the Eos in line with VW's latest models such as the new Touareg, Passat B7 and Jetta. At the front, there's a new upper grille which is now completely separated from the lower. The headlamps now incorporate the horse-shoe

MG makes a comeback in UK

MG Rover's old Longbridge car plant is set to comeback in a big way when Shanghai Automotice (SAIC) / MG begins building its first all new car in 15 years at the end of the year. The plant will start producing the MG6 mid-size model from knocked-down kits imported from China, preceding the UK relaunch of MG as a "value brand" in 2011.   The all new car will be available initially as a five-door fastback, with a four-door saloon to follow later on. The automaker optimistically told the Financia

Is it just me or do the new Lotus models look strikingly similar to one another?

Now that Lotus have announced their latest, if not greatest models I have noticed that all of the look strikingly similar to one another. Is it just me?   I don't think so. I think you readers would too. What I do know is that I wrote about the Elite, mentioning that it looked Maserati-ish and it had a touch of the recently departed Toyota Celica from some angles. The thing was at that point of time, Lotus only released details on that one car. Now that it has announced the new Elise, Esprit,

Passat BlueMotion set new world record

Sunday Times journalist Gavin Conway has set a world record by driving a Volkswagen Passat 1,531 miles (2464 km) on a single tank of fuel from Maidstone, England to Calais.   The Passat was fitted with VW's1.6 TDI (105 PS/ 250Nm) diesel engine with BlueMotion technology that includes a stop/start system for improved fuel-economy. The car on test was a standard production model with no modifications made.   Conway used exactly 77.25 liters of diesel fuel on the drive which translate to a fuel

Range Rover Evoque 5door officially confirmed at the Paris Motor Show

Another photo unveiling at the Paris Motor Show was the Range Rover Evoque in 5 door form. The car, which somehow looks like an enlarged Mini Countryman to me was officially confirmed by Land Rover at the official preview of the 3 door Evoque and after a photograph of it was leaked on the internet. This was amid a seemingly never ending glamorous previews, launchings and unveils of Lamborghinis, Lotuses, Jaguars and so many more.   The Evoque 5 door will have the same engine specs of the 3 doo

Rally inspired Fiesta

Ford introduced its rally dedicated Fiesta RS WRC at the Paris Auto Show.   Built around a 1.6-liter EcoBoost turbocharged four-cylinder engine, the Fiesta RS WRC likely milks something north of 400 horsepower from its tiny displacement, though Ford hasn't announced the official output specs. The jump to the smaller engine is driven by the WRC's adoption of Super 2000 rules for 2011, which mandates a maximum displacement of 1.6 liters. Design by Ford of Europe with help from rally partner M-Sp

ZOE in Paris

Although ZOE sounds like COE, they are entirely different. One is a piece of paper while the other is an electric vehicle in the making.   Following last year's ZOE Z.E. coupe, Renault took the opportunity at the Paris Show to show off the ZOE, which presents a more realistic look at the production version that will be available in 2012. Wearing Renault's newest face, it may also preview the next Clio as well.   Similar in size to the Clio, this little electric automobile gets some high-end

Lotus unveiled 2015 Elise at Paris Show

Lotus surprised us by unveiling the 2015 Elise at the Paris Motor Show.   Available as a coupe and roadster (the Exige name will apparently be dropped), the new Elise features shark-inspired styling, floating taillights, and a variety of carbon fiber components. Furthermore, thanks to a longer extruded aluminum chassis, entry and egress should be vastly improved. Power is provided by a supercharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine which produces around 320 hp. Paired to a robotized manual tran
