Just as the new sixth-generation BMW 5 Series sedan goes on sale in Europe, a new station wagon variant has been unveiled. Like the previous generations of the 5 Series Touring, this one is essentially the same as the sedan, only with the roof extending straight back to enclose a substantially larger cargo area.

All the fancy new technologies that we've already witnessed in the 5 Series Gran Turismo and sedan is carried over into the Touring. That includes the surround-view cameras, Variable Damper Control and 8-Speed Sport automatic gearbox etc.

A selection of gas and diesel four- and six cylinder engines will be offered. The range-topping 535i is powered by the new inline 6 3.0L twin-scroll turbo with direct injection, generating 300hp. Single-turbo versions of the 2.0-liter inline-four and 3.0-liter inline-six diesels are also available with 184 hp and 245 hp respectively.

As a Touring model, it is more utilitarian than a normal 5 Series saloon. Its storage space has grown by 60 liters to 560 liters with the seats up, or 1,670 liters with the seats folded down. If necessary, the seats can be fixed in a more-upright position, adding 30 liters of space in the rear.

Like all modern BMWs, efficiency is not forgotten. The BMW 520d Touring is the first 5 Series to come with Auto Start-Stop, reducing the engine idle period when coming to a short stop.

Somehow, a BMW stationwagon looks 5 years out-dated compared to the same sedan model.

I would not get a stationwagon, not practical in Singapore. Would you?

  • Godzilla Minus One: Surprisingly emotional and poignant

When one thinks of Godzilla movies, one imagines an oversized amphibious dinosaur generating a terrifying heat ray from its mouth and fighting with other oversized monsters. Meh, nothing special, right? Wrong. Here’s why Godzilla Minus One should be an action movie you should definitely catch. In this version, the timeless clash between monster and man is once again set against the tumultuous backdrop of post-war Japan. But, unlike typical action films that dive headfirst into destruction a

The advent of apps and the Internet have revolutionised our ability to connect instantaneously. However, it seems that the more hyperconnected we are online, the further apart we're growing in real life. Experts' Consensus Doctors, scientists, and specialists have all reached the same conclusion: Staring at our devices causes us to drift further apart – a trend I've obser

Cordless vacuum cleaners: A young adult's best friend?

Every young adult probably arrives at the same point when they’ve started working for a few years: Household chores start to become more enjoyable. Don’t get me wrong – they don’t have to be one’s favourite activity on earth. But chores start to make sense: An environment that’s put-together is always a welcome haven, whether it’s returning home after a long day out, or simply staying in over the weekend (or when you’re working from home.) As a young adult myself, I've come to appreciate an

I have a new favourite game - Dave the Diver!

Nowadays I think many people have a Nintendo Switch, considering how it is often given away as a free gift when you sign up for credit cards, etc. Instead of just playing Mario Kart, Overcooked and Pokemon, I have another game to introduce to you all! The game is Dave the Diver. This game has completely captivated me with its delightful blend of adventure and relaxation. From the moment I dove into its vibrant underwater world, I was hooked. The gameplay mechanics strike that perfect b
