With the Murcielago out of production, Lamborghini prepares itself for the launch of its replacement (some have called it the 'Jota', which I doubt would be the name) in 2011-2012. So how do they tell their fans, loyal customers and also the general public? They preview an important part of any top of the range Lamborghini ; the V12 engine.

It has been stated that the Lamborghini range topping cars must run a V12 engine. And the Murcielago replacement stated for launch next year will get a totally new Lamborghini engine and transmission. The Lamborghini V12 will have 6.5liters, similar in capacity to the outgoing Murcielago but it is a totally new engine without any major carry over parts. It will have a power output of 700bhp (up from the 670hp that the Murcielago LP670-4 makes) and a maximum torque of 690Nm.

The power will be channeled to the wheels via a new automated manual gearbox (called the Lamborghini ISR transmission or Independent Shifting Rod in full) that weighs 79kg and has a shifting time (according to Lamborghini) 50% faster than the equivalent DSG (heavier too) type gearbox. The engine weighs in at 225kg making this supercar drivetrain one of the lightest in the business.

The crankcase and the four-valve cylinder heads are made from aluminum-silicon alloy for a reduction of weight. The new V12 has a short-stroke layout ensures exceptional high-revving performance and very low internal friction. A lengthy process of fine tuning perfected the thermal management system for the high-performance power unit, as well as the oil circulation system with dry-sump lubrication. The intake system with four individual throttle valves is highly complex with an extremely well-rounded torque curve and outstanding pulling power across the rev range the reward.

According to Lamborghini, the exhaust system delivers the lowest emission levels for a supercar, as well as that unmistakable, spine-tingling Lamborghini sound

You actually cannot tell a whole car from just the engine alone. Lamborghini is just teasing us.

We all know that every new engine will have less friction, more power, revs easier-harder-higher, more environmental friendly, made of lightweight alloys. It is about the same for every new engine including this one from Lamborghini

- just how much is a company willing to throw money at it is the real issue. Less money, less exotic. It's as simple as that.

  • Far Cry: A journey over two decades (PART TWO)

In case you missed part one, here's the link. Welcome to Part Two of this ongoing series of every Far Cry main game in chronological order. As previously mentioned, having dedicated 21 years and thousands upon thousands of hours to this series, I have decided to write a review of my experience with each game. Bear in mind this is coming from a PC gamer. This post will focus on the second game in the series without revealing too much spoilers. Far Cry 2 continues to stand the

Why I bought Fanta Orange and hand carried it back from Germany

    - The curious case of the European Fanta - I paid 5 Euros for a small 500ml bottle of Fanta Orange and brought it on my carry-on bag, on a 13+hours flight to bring it back to Singapore. You might be wondering why; after all we can get Fanta Orange in Singapore - it's a Chinese New Year staple! BUT NO! European Fanta is DIFFERENT! From its colour, to its taste, the European Fanta is unique and better, and I would say it tastes closer to Origina (which is like the best fizzy orange drink

    Movile Cave: Aliens on Earth

Picture this: a subterranean hideaway so exclusive, it's been sealed off from the outside world for a cool 5.5 million years. Yep, the Movile Cave is a strange alien universe right here on Earth, tucked underneath the Romanian coast.  It may be just 20 metres below ground, but the Movile Cave is about as alien an environment as you will find anywhere on Earth. With no interference from the plebeian air that we breathe and light that we see, the cave instead is a concoction of sulphuric

How are we already in June?

During lunch with my mother a couple of weeks back over yong tau foo, I was asked about my opinion on the latest NDP song. And of course, as expected of any chronically insular millennial, my reaction was: “Huh? There’s a new NDP song?” But of course there is. And I say this not to disparage the wonderful songwriters and musicians that provide an anthem to remember the nation’s birthday by annually, but to knock into my own mind the harsh reality: We’re already in mid-June.  It fe
