  2. According to Autocar, Lamborghini chief Stephan Winkelmann has embarked on a world tour to showcase the Murcielago-replacement to selected clients - a model Lamborghini has still not yet officially named. "We've allowed the dealers to select which customers are invited instead of getting involved directly. They know who they need to invite because, in some cases, these are people they have been dealing with for many years," Winkelmann told Autocar. The next flagship Lamborghini model, possibly to be called the Aventador, will be lightweight in construction, featuring a carbon-fiber monocoque chassis. It will come with a new 6.5 liter V12 producing 515 kW (700 PS) and 690 Nm of torque. Lamborghini also has a new gearbox for this lineup-topping model. A 7-speed single clutch gearbox called the ISR (Independent Shifting Rods) transmission. The new gearbox features exceptionally quick shift times (50 percent quicker than a double-clutch gearbox) by means of the independent shifting rods. 0 to 100 km/h on the model will be 2.9 seconds and top speed should be around 350 km/h (217 mph). The Murcielago-replacing Lamborghini is expected to debut at the Geneva auto show next March. Source: Autocar
  3. With the Murcielago out of production, Lamborghini prepares itself for the launch of its replacement (some have called it the 'Jota', which I doubt would be the name) in 2011-2012. So how do they tell their fans, loyal customers and also the general public? They preview an important part of any top of the range Lamborghini ; the V12 engine. It has been stated that the Lamborghini range topping cars must run a V12 engine. And the Murcielago replacement stated for launch next year will get a totally new Lamborghini engine and transmission. The Lamborghini V12 will have 6.5liters, similar in capacity to the outgoing Murcielago but it is a totally new engine without any major carry over parts. It will have a power output of 700bhp (up from the 670hp that the Murcielago LP670-4 makes) and a maximum torque of 690Nm. The power will be channeled to the wheels via a new automated manual gearbox (called the Lamborghini ISR transmission or Independent Shifting Rod in full) that weighs 79kg and has a shifting time (according to Lamborghini) 50% faster than the equivalent DSG (heavier too) type gearbox. The engine weighs in at 225kg making this supercar drivetrain one of the lightest in the business. The crankcase and the four-valve cylinder heads are made from aluminum-silicon alloy for a reduction of weight. The new V12 has a short-stroke layout ensures exceptional high-revving performance and very low internal friction. A lengthy process of fine tuning perfected the thermal management system for the high-performance power unit, as well as the oil circulation system with dry-sump lubrication. The intake system with four individual throttle valves is highly complex with an extremely well-rounded torque curve and outstanding pulling power across the rev range the reward. According to Lamborghini, the exhaust system delivers the lowest emission levels for a supercar, as well as that unmistakable, spine-tingling Lamborghini sound

  5. [extract] After almost a decade in production, the Murcielago has now rolled off into history. The final Murcielago was a Murcielago LP670-4 Superveloce in Arancio Altas or orange. It was the 4,099th produced, left the Sant' Agata factory on 11th May 2010 and headed to a Swiss customer. This is the end of an era as the Murcielago was designed before it was absorbed under Audi. It was the final, totally
  6. Should be another V12 (maybe the last given the Emissions requirements in Europe)...to be release at Paris I think... any bets on the name? JOTA has been tossed out there, but I don't think so... 1. The Jota was actually the "race" version of the Miura, so is kind-of like a Superleggera or a Super Veloce, don't think a new model would be given this name 2. I don't believe Lamborghini will revive a name from the past - I think they will be forward looking Any bets?
  7. [extract] Lamborghini has decided that the market in China warrants a highly limited edition of one of their supercars. So at the 2010 Beijing Auto Show they launched the Murci

  10. They call it MR2 in US but its called MRS locally. Of course, considering the Lambo is stock and MRS isn't. But its still incredible to see a tiny 4 banger outpacing a massive 6.2L 580HP car!
  11. These are the first images that you can find of the pre-production, 225mph Lamborghini which will go on sale early next year with a price tag that is quite irrelevant since most of us won't be able to afford one. But if you do have about a million in your pocket, this is quite a feasible buy. The new Lambo features a bespoke carbon composite chassis and a brand new 7.0-litre V12 engine, rumoured to have between 700-720bhp. And ever since Audi took over the wheel at Lambo, the range topping version will have four-wheel drive as standard and carbon fibre panels to make this mean machine super light. Its kerbweight is targeted to be less that 1500kg which means acceleration in this Lambo would mean neck aches and massive G forces on your eyeballs since 0-100km/h will take about 3.0 seconds. Strangely though, the new Lambo will not feature a DSG transmission because it would be

  13. Does anyone know the owner of the yellow 5005 Murcielago with black stripes? Royal Brothers? Had a friendly encounter with him yesterday. Not even a race at all cos totally smell no smoke but he waited for me a few times. God damn that car is amazing and intoxicating! One helluva drama queen (the styling I mean)
  14. This marks the 2nd time the next-generation supercar has been totalled on public roads - and it's not even available on the market yet! Monday, June 19, 2006 Lamborghini officially unveiled the next generation Murcielago, known as the LP640, at the Geneva Motor Show this past March. Originally projected to hit the streets in spring, the date had been pushed back to September, which means this exotic is not yet available for consumers. Lamborghini is on schedule to produce a total of 300 units this year, all of which have already been sold out. Although the LP640 is not yet available to the public, there are a handful currently being driven on public roads usually with automotive journalists or Lamborghini drivers behind the wheel. That's why it comes as a shock that not only one, but two of these pre-production models has already been wrecked on public roads. The most recent being in St. Andrae, Austria on June 15, 2006. According to witnesses, the Lamborghini lost control and crashed into a tree after attempting to pass another vehicle. The car burst into flames - the driver had to be flown to a nearby hospital after suffering severe burns. The Lamborghini was on its way to a press event at the time of the accident.

  16. A new breed of Lamborghini Murcielago. The LP640. I hear the sound of jaws dropping. Oooohhh yea. Never though the Murcielago could look any better. I'm so glad i'm wrong.
