Thinking of changing a HU, maybe goinf for time alignment.( In the main time, passive only)

Has this 3 model in mind. Clarion and Eclipse are 24bit. Alpine 1 Bit.

In my opinion, Clarion- nicest( in term of look) with in built harddisk.

Eclispe- Memory Stick option, 8V preout(is this important?). Alpine- Cheapest of the 3. No fuss HU.

Can help me with some info of the head unit?(Pro and cons) Seem a lot of people using Alpine.

Thanks. [thumbsup]

Am using Clarion 856, don't have the model so voted for 956 instead. Same look, only lacking in a few features, and most importantly, cheaper by about S$200.

That harddisk, I would think it is petty useless. Since it is a MP3 player, it can easily play 10hours worth of mp3s on the disc. Moreover, the aux connectors that comes with it makes it easy to plug any micro-disc player in (Mine is creative nomad with 4GB, 66.6hours of song and music).

Of course there is those Time alignment and multiple digital crossover. But those I have yet to figure out what they do, so don't think I will need them yet.

856 i also saw it at my installer shop.

But 956 for $200 more can get harddisk, time alignment, peq, etc. Think it is more worth it.

Still thinking about the eclispe. memory stick expandable.

That hard disk is not even as much as a CD (600mb), I think. As for the others, if you think it is worth it, then go for it.

Eclispe, somehow it skips my attention when I was searching. Memory stick? What is it for? MP3s again?

I wondered why you never consider Pioneer 8650/9650. These model, by far, packed the most number of features in the HU without having to pay through your nose. Any reason why not considering Pioneer? I would have gotten 8650, if it haven't be re-called back when I wanted to install it.

what i read is it can record about 2xx mins of CD quality song, not mp3 quality.

yup memory stick for MP3/wma/etc.

Pioneer radio reception very bad leh, now using 7750.

CD quality? I heard was by converting their to mp3s. Better confirm the actual memory space if you are to consider it as a plus over 856.

If memory stick is for mp3, then I think not worth it anymore. I can easily connect even a laptop to my car system by AUX and have 40GB of playable music, not to mention watching movies too. Does the Eclispe comes with default AUX input?

Hi BRos, sorry to ride on this thread. But am really desperate and am unable to start a new thread due to insufficient posts.

I have this weird problem. When I play CD on my SOny RX3410, the sound comes out flat even with a pre-amp. Bass just couldn't be felt. It has a faraway and flat feel. But when I select to tuner, eg. CLass 95, the quality is full-bodied with powerful bass.

ANy Bros out there can enlighten me on that?

My config : Sony Hu RX3410, a 4-Channel Amp, 2 sets of component speaker with 4 tweeters.

Well I have also just upgraded to a 956 (using the same "temp" set as youlaugh.gif while waiting for it to come). Think not bad so far.
