Hang_kilat Neutral Newbie October 10, 2005 Share October 10, 2005 hi guys. just like to find out from you guys if the current swift model is just a tad bit underpowerd? im driving the new Swift '05(manual). i find that on MSCPs i can only use 1st gear to up the slope when at slow speed. if i go up on 2nd gear the car cannot make it.... so yeah... your views would be greatly appreciated! cheers~! ↡ Advertisement

Octopus 3rd Gear October 11, 2005 Share October 11, 2005 (edited) Me not driving Swift, but I'd guess it depend on the type of MSCP and its construction. For example, the one at IMM is big enough so there is enough room to accelerate to a comfortable speed so that 2nd gear can climb up easily. But some of the MSCP are rather cramp so need to slow down before turning up, therefore need to shift 1st gear. Genie47 1st Gear October 11, 2005 Share October 11, 2005 BTW, drive like me an the comfort based dampers will die very soon like what's happening to me now. I take MSCP going up or down use full lock turns. Hand feed method that is why can turn fast. Don't use brakes. All on 2nd gear. A lot of people always wonder how this big fat car can turn so well. Little did they know it is considered a small car.
Genie47 1st Gear October 11, 2005 Share October 11, 2005 Try my MCSP. Gave me lots of practise. Godfinger got freaked out by it.

Genie47 1st Gear October 11, 2005 Share October 11, 2005 Compared with the Vios and City of which this car more or less is in the same category (sub-compact), it is a pretty fat car. Well the Vios is cramped, the City is long.
Imuya Clutched October 11, 2005 Share October 11, 2005 Genie, is your MSCP similar to Blk 511's? My gf lives there and i got lotsa practice there too!!
Felipe 3rd Gear October 11, 2005 Share October 11, 2005 i think its not very accurate to judge a car's power based on the gears up slope. i'd look more at acceleration timings.
Genie47 1st Gear October 11, 2005 Share October 11, 2005 The ramps are very narrow. The Passats and Sunnys crawl up. The most hiong is the Odyssey driver. Goes up or down pretty fast like me. The Skyline Volvo crawls up it due to the extensive bodykit it has. It has gone through a major revamp. Previously I cringe everytime it goes up or down scrapping the spoiler. Imuya Clutched October 11, 2005 Share October 11, 2005 yes! the ramps are #$%#$% narrow! everytime i turn right i will rather mount the small kerb than risk "bua" the opposite wall. Another gripe is lack of mirrors to see whether there is another car coming up/down the slope. V. dangerous as it's a merging lane kinda thing. One fun thing is cos of the squeaky flooring, if you turn a bit faster can have the tyre screeching/drifting sound. Scared some people there . Genie47 1st Gear October 11, 2005 Share October 11, 2005 A friend staying in the block next to the MSCP always know it is me coming or going just be hearing the tires screeching. ↡ Advertisement
