How problematic is VW's 7 speed DSG?

dry one noisier. actually more shiok for some ppl

his point was braking before a corner helps manually downshift faster, not that braking downshift the gears.

So braking makes it downshift faster? Then it's still fast in the slower corners but a fast corner where braking is not needed is a problem?

ok get wat u mean. not sure how true cos a friend on dsg and selespeed before said selespeed downshift is faster than dsg as no need preselect gear. having driven the selespeed for a long time, i feel the downshifts are fast but of cos, not as smooth. in short, the dsg edges out selespeed upshift but not downshift.

The most vw can do is improve the longevity of the mu. There's nothing they can do to make the dry clutch wear out slower. It's a 2k part n roughly 100k mileage. No new post could mean those have given up and the new owners have yet to experience it

its still easier than clutch pedal cos u just need to use left foot for brake. press abit of throttle and yr up. for clutch pedal, normally is handbrake unless one's clutch control is damn good.

the video is informative. for local context, quite a few bmw guys do walnut blast. about $4-500. thing is not many wkshops do injector cleaning. so a change cost 500 each injector.

really shouldn't the dsg downshift faster than human hand?

the speed is there for sure. there's the idea of something feels fast, and some that IS fast. track times have shown there's no way manual hand can shift faster than various modern autoboxes no matter how shiok it feels. even F1 has gone dual clutch which it previously banned cos it's like a cvt with minimal driver involvement. not forgetting things like turbo where it was previously NA. for cvt, the mimic of shifts is obviously instant. so it all boils down to the feeling one gets, which differs for individuals.

i think as discussed in earlier posts, the shift speed is never in doubt. it's the feeling which for some who demand engagement, tat part is missing. can't feel anything. which is good for some ppl

If the priority is lap times, forget about manual.
