ya i heard tat the one on the Golf Gti is damn good. Saw on topgear where the short english guy tried it... wah lan.... instantanious gear change...

DSG lah Jon. Next gear already in place before the actual gear change --> almost instantaneous. Come to think of it, the M3's SMG II is as fast as the DSG in S4 mode [sly]

modding the ecu on a merc is quite risky... I believe u have read in the benzworld forum or mbnz forum where this guy remapped his R171 tuned by MKB. Performance increase is outstanding.. i have seen it in action with my own eyes.

On the other hand, my other fren remapped his ecu on his CLK W208 (e old one) by brabus but it gave him alot of problems... costing him a few Ks to resolve.

Keep in mind tat if u were to bring to cycle for servicing and they decide to do a ecu version upgrade for u, the remaps would be overwritten and everything will be lost.

So i guess its pretty risky to mod the ecu.

my engine doesn't have a compressor, therefore its not an option for me to do up tat part.

the big problem is tat companies like, Vath, brabus, kleeman, carlsson, MKB etc. are not very established in singapore. have to go through benzline or autovox to get to them which is quite troublesome(in case of after-mod issues).

i suggest to stay stock... until the 3 yr warranty is over. minor minor mods can do... hah

recently lowered e car... gosh... feels so good.

However, trust me, the sportshift on the Teg is way different. The response is almost instantaneous, and it will keep to the gear I selected. When I say down to 2, or even 1, it will move, and the rev will jump close to redline and maintain there till I adjust again.

All self shift auto boxes will keep to the gear you've selected until redline (am sure you know this yeah).

You should try out the DSG and see for yourself how fast it is.

Clean it everytime I wash my car. Becos' it's maintained, just simple wipe will do as not much grime buildup [:)]

I know about potential issues with ECU mods, be it for Honda or Merc. But the Kleemann is supposed to be a simple piggy back K-Box coupled with a pulley wheel upgrade for a more aggressive kompressor. This is not a total reflash as per MKB. I wonder if anyone's used it. I'm more for simple piggy back than an ECU reflash. For e.g. for Teg, it'll probably be the piggy back FCon SZ.

Sorry, thought your SLK was a 200 Kompressor. Is it a 320 or the new 350? Nice V6!

My first 2 cars were all manual, but have to get something that more family members can drive nowadays. But Teg's auto is OK, not as mushy as BMW and Merc (the 2 with Tiptronic that I tried). I also tried the Alfa Romeo's unique "manual", which is their version of DSG. Not much diff in terms of speed in gear changes to me for what I can ramp up in Singapore roads.

You are right but the only difference is most self shift auto boxes will upshift to the next gear when it reaches redline but the sportshift in Teg doesn't. Meaning it will hold to the gear even if it reaches the redline.

not even close at all....try doing tat when u r on 3rd gear near redline? the purpose of tat is to match the engine speed when u down gear else u risk locking ur tyres.....of cos tat onli useful on track n not on the public roads....learnt tat during my tracking days on 2 wheels....
