Guyver 1st Gear January 30, 2003 Share January 30, 2003 Hi guys, I am new here . Been reading the materials for a week+ . You guys are best when it comes to tech . Awesome infos at no cost at all. I think the best thing to do is to ignore ppl like this. Sometime courtesy goes a long way in solving things. Yesterday my wife was driving for work and i was sitting besides. She is a good driver and quite generous too. We were travelling at the centre lane on PIE towards jurong. She had kept a good distance behind a merc driven my an old lady. We could see children in the car too. The lady wanted to take a left turn at steven road. So she signalled and waited for the left lane to be clear. Everytime she tried moving to the left lane.... a cab driver who was driving at the left lane zoomed in but never overtook the lady... as if bullying her... the poor lady even slowed down to allow the cab driver overtake...but the bully also slowed down... Seeing all this happen... my wife overtook the merc from right lane and quickly moved to the left most lane and slowed down in order to block the cab driver... Then the lady in merc easily moved to left lane and was just in time for the steven road exit... We could see the lady waving to thank us..... and boy, I was so proud of my wife at the moment...Sometime we have to learn to be patient and courteous, it will surely help in long run.. Wah!! solid man!! alot of ladies will only stare at the road in front... but your wife could even literally read the other person's mind that she's wanting to exit at Steven Rd... Welcome both of u to MCF!! Do join our up and coming 4th day breakfast if u can!!

Saaber Neutral Newbie February 1, 2003 Share February 1, 2003 If really life and death situation, then beating the the red light is OK I know I would do that in that situation....
Blackford Neutral Newbie February 3, 2003 Share February 3, 2003 Agreed. Beat traffic lioghts only if it is a life and death situation. Not because you are 5 min late to beat the ERP or miss the start of a movie

Blackford Neutral Newbie February 3, 2003 Share February 3, 2003 Local drivers seem to have forgotten how to give way even to emergency vehicles. Notwithstanding the flashing lights and sirens! I really wonder what's wrong ... I have seen this on many instances. Saw this yesterday on the road. Fire engine wanted to cross ton the adjacent lane on a cross junction. I stop to give way, the car behind me horned and cut on my left and sped off without letting the Fire engine pass... Tsk tsk... talk about selfishness on CNY... Lufu 1st Gear February 3, 2003 Share February 3, 2003 Hey guys, Guess what? I was travelling along AYE going back home when I was being tailgated by a wonderfully-coloured beetle car (dark green) with a unreasonable driver onboard (pity the nice colour and girlfriend ). It was a male driver. Now, why was he unreasonable, you might ask? Well, I was travelling at a healthy speed, while happily chatting with my girlfriend when this driver came up behind me. Not only was he tailgating me, he was flashing his headlights at me constantly! As if to tell me to give way to him on a public road!!! that's when i got really mad and copied his license plate number and time of incident!!! while slowing down to let him pass me. well... with his arrogance, he naturally sped past me at a speed of at least 150Km/hr. Even though I tried to catch up withim to give a piece of my mind ,he was even risking everyone's lives by dashing even thorough the red light! Anyone know where to lodge a compliant for such drivers? Thanks! trying to impress his GF how cool is it, with his 150km/h Beetle

[/reply] In other countries like the UK, drivers go out of their way to let emergency vehicles pass.. I have witness drivers moving their cars onto kerbs and to the side shoulders just to let an ambulance pass. But over here....emergency vehicles are considered like any other vehicle and are kept in the jam as well. Very sad.

Dragonleo Neutral Newbie February 3, 2003 Share February 3, 2003 Hi! Precisely! that's my ideal too, RIGHT Lane is meant for "Ovetaking purpose" not for "Traveling at High Speed or Constant Speed within Speed Limit" purpose! If our neighbouring country, Malaysia's Super High Way can adopt this sort of approach on their two lanes road, why can't our dear Singaporeans instill the attitude on our 3 to 4 lanes road? Why are we such a spoilt brat! Anyway, Shumbo! your madam attitude is of admiration! Cheers to her!
Guyver 1st Gear February 3, 2003 Share February 3, 2003 Agree with u.. right most lane is for over-taking .. so naturally the speed would be in the region of 110km/h to 130km/h.... in order to overtake those car in the centre lane which is travelling at 90km/h.... but hate to see pple hogging in the right most lane at 90km/h or even slower!! Yttrium Neutral Newbie February 3, 2003 Share February 3, 2003 Well I only hope that those who do have proper road manners do not give up and join the majority who don't... and that slowly this minority would have a positive influence on the general motoring population. Maybe one day Singaporean drivers would drive with proper road manners and graciousness...
