Pauly75ts Neutral Newbie January 27, 2003 Share January 27, 2003 "maybe that guy is rushing for urgent matter" Hi! there, Saaber, There was an incident that happened when my daughter was only 1+, the maid called to say that she fell on her arm. I was in a state of shock, when I heard her crying in the background, I thought she broke her arm. I left my workplace in Tuas, along the way picked my wife, Lynda, and rushed to Hougang. I broke all the traffic rules by driving my car like a go-kart, and reached Hougang in 30mins. If I'd been caught by the TP, I'd just chuck my IC to him then carried on my way, with him following or not. Lynda asked, isn't it dangerous driving to zig-zagged in front of cars? I told her the other car drivers don't have time to react, as I do it and was gone before they had time to notice that I was there. But then, I honed my driving on the trunk roads in Malaysia, so I guess something good came out of it, if I'm in a rush I always try to do it safely. I think car number posting would not help a single bit. In fact, this can lead to a lot of flames. Who is to say who's right or wrong. We don't have the benefit of witnessing the incident. Awesome infos at no cost at all. I think the best thing to do is to ignore ppl like this. Sometime courtesy goes a long way in solving things. Yesterday my wife was driving for work and i was sitting besides. She is a good driver and quite generous too. We were travelling at the centre lane on PIE towards jurong. She had kept a good distance behind a merc driven my an old lady. We could see children in the car too. The lady wanted to take a left turn at steven road. So she signalled and waited for the left lane to be clear. Everytime she tried moving to the left lane.... a cab driver who was driving at the left lane zoomed in but never overtook the lady... as if bullying her... the poor lady even slowed down to allow the cab driver overtake...but the bully also slowed down... Seeing all this happen... my wife overtook the merc from right lane and quickly moved to the left most lane and slowed down in order to block the cab driver... Then the lady in merc easily moved to left lane and was just in time for the steven road exit... We could see the lady waving to thank us..... and boy, I was so proud of my wife at the moment...Sometime we have to learn to be patient and courteous, it will surely help in long run.. I drive for pleasure and try not to get worked up over these minor inconveniences. Life is short and I don't need additional pressure on the roads. Cheers! When I travel on the extreme right lane and I see a car approaching me at a faster speed, I will signal left and let the car pass. If he is speeding, he is answerable. If I do not keep left for him to overtake, I am road hogging and also answerable regardless of the speed I am travelling at. I am sure each of us have at one time or another travelled at fast speed for various emergencies and cursing those cars that got in our way and refused to give way, right?? Cheers! Just because I'm going at what I consider a high speed doesnt' give me the right to die-die cling to the right lane when somebody is coming up faster behind. We could both be way above the speed limit, but if he's still faster than me, then I should just move left and let him pass. The right lane is precisely for "OVERTAKING" - nobody has a "right" to keep staying in it simply because he is travelling at what himself perceives to be a "high" speed. I was travelling along AYE going back home when I was being tailgated by a wonderfully-coloured beetle car (dark green) with a unreasonable driver onboard (pity the nice colour and girlfriend ). It was a male driver. Now, why was he unreasonable, you might ask? Well, I was travelling at a healthy speed, while happily chatting with my girlfriend when this driver came up behind me. Not only was he tailgating me, he was flashing his headlights at me constantly! As if to tell me to give way to him on a public road!!! that's when i got really mad and copied his license plate number and time of incident!!! while slowing down to let him pass me. well... with his arrogance, he naturally sped past me at a speed of at least 150Km/hr. Even though I tried to catch up withim to give a piece of my mind ,he was even risking everyone's lives by dashing even thorough the red light! Anyone know where to lodge a compliant for such drivers? Thanks! It would not do you any good, first of all. Let me elaborate. Sometime back I spotted a cement mixer truck driver attempting to make a right turn with his righthand holding the hp, talking. I noted down his vehicle#, called the TP. The TP Officer asked if there were any other offence commited by the driver? Obviously not, he then said there is not anything to proceed. When I asked 'is that to mean got to wait for a accident then call?', he said do not argue with him on law. Obviously not again, here I am law abiding and he on the hand a law enforcer at that. Later I called the Police Service Quality, I was asked if I would testify in court against the driver. Now this I wonder how to prove, as 'the driver can simply show proof that he do have a handsfree kit so why would he hold the hp on his hand'. In the end, I got pissed off with the TP.
