I need help on spark plug!!!

to all bros,i am driving a yr 2000 galant.wat spark plug is recommended?i am using the ows sparks plug now and i think it is not very good!!can any one recommend???thks

I guess Denso Iridium plugs. There are 4 main groups but can only remember 3

IK - 0.04mm head..good for 40K.....abt $65 for 4

SK - 0.07mm...good for 100K.....abt $55 for 4

VK - 0.04mm head...good for 100K.....$105 for 4

 

The 0.04mm more for performance. I'm on the SK, more value for $$.

 

For the size go to the Denso website. key your car model & it pops up. There was a tread that says where to buy..sorry can't seems to find it

my mech recomm NGK Spark Plugs... saying dat it's effective and more value for money. Moreover, it's cheaper then Denso... sm1 in SLC mentioned that he used Denso but seems like it's a waste of money. Not sure for mi...but i always trust my mech...he's a good frd of mine.

Hi,imho use the original plug,I use to drove a 1.8 Galant,once I had it change to a set of platinum plug(the mach recommended),and I feel that the idling not so smooth and some miss firing,still didn't know that the plug cause it,thought that maybe the patrol I am using cause the problem until the next service,and change back to the original plug,and immediatly the car feel more powerful and idling become smooth.

I wud strongly recommend u use the plugs stated in your owners manual. Try to get those stated " Made In Japan" on the box. These r the best.

 

All plugs may look similar but they r very different. A plug just slightly colder or hotter or shorter or longer than the specified can cause many problems & sometimes irrepariable damage to your engine.

 

That's why some bros have problems when they try those "special" plugs supposed to last very long or give more power.

 

You might b able to check with Mit agent (C & C) for the proper plug & get the jap made ones yourself from a good spare parts shop.

 

If u have firing problems, also check your plug cables & distributor if u have one.

yo bro,i am drivivng GDI.after i change to ows sparks plug my engine sound louder and the tappet sound is also louder.haizz.....must waste money to go do the tappet again!!!!

make sure you get the correct size for your plug it's not one size fit all.

Here are the cross reference for spark plug socket

 

8mm spark plug thread = 14 mm european size ( measure across the flat of the spark plug hexagon )

10mm spark plug thread= 16mm euro size

12mm spark plug thread = 18mm euro size

14mm spark plug thread = 21mm euro size

how would you know if your plugs are good or not? is it when you are starting up the car the number of 'clicks'?

Starting sud b easier. Running is smoother & most important when engine is under heavy load, like accelerating, no jerks or mis firing, means plugs r still ok.

 

I normally change my plugs every 20K km (alternate servicing) even though they r almost as smooth as the 1st day I put them in.

 

Good plugs of correct heat range sud last if your engine is in good running condition.
