Specgt Neutral Newbie November 17, 2005 Share November 17, 2005 Build a heat shield around the air filter... This will ensure the air that is suck in is cool air from your CAI and not hot air from your engine bay...
Heartbreakid 6th Gear November 17, 2005 Share November 17, 2005 Hello, just my personnel view...It seems like it's high time you changed your open pod filter. The filter element seems to "collapse", if u get what I mean... Put it this way, those pleats seems to have been pressed... Changed the filter and get a heat shield... Heartbreakid 6th Gear November 17, 2005 Share November 17, 2005 Hey, no problem man!! Glad that you got what I'm saying. But I have no idea where can get a heat shield . You can check out the new Simoto open pod filter, that have all ranges of designs which I thought should prove to be effective than putting heat shield...Where open pod is put inside a box, which has a hose link to the front of the nose or other areas to draw outside air... That's all I can say...
Kax2 Neutral Newbie November 17, 2005 Share November 17, 2005 Yours looked more like a Short Ram Intake (SRI) to me rather than a CAI ... it looks so short to me ... Anyone else shares my opinion ?
Turbonetics 2nd Gear November 17, 2005 Share November 17, 2005 yah...this is a SRI....
Koren Clutched November 17, 2005 Share November 17, 2005 this is a long sri.. heatshield + cai piping should help..
Imuya Clutched November 17, 2005 Share November 17, 2005 arrghh! you bought my dream car off SGcarMart!! jus kidding bro. Your engine bay is very similar to mine. My suggestion: Change the cone filter ASAP, this one is CMI liao. After that can build a heatshield for the cone and then do a CAI to direct cool air. Your present set up is HAI (Hot Air Intake), very unbefitting to the monster of an engine you have[sly] If can wrap the blue pipe with insulating material even better! Accordvtec 1st Gear November 23, 2005 Share November 23, 2005 I have tried open pod filter(HKS,Apexi,KNN 57i,etc)with heat shield but I feel that this current is the best.Neat and power (both low end and high end so there is no loss) definitely worth the $$ becos the price that you are going to pay for an open pod filter, piping, heat shield etc will set you close to the price of this.Furthermore, the filter is transferable,in other words,universal... ↡ Advertisement
