$600 can get a pair of Hella HID Xenon Spot lamps! Tat's REAL Xenon!

Don't waste your $$ with factory foglamps lah, get a branded one like Hella with covers so that in SG cover up so TP cannot disturb, then go NS Highway and shine baby shine

The reason why I am keen on factory fog lights is that it fits nicely on the car.... if you fit after market ones, where got space to install the lamp? Sometimes my car when parking head in, already brush the curbs liao, if I install the lamp underneath, lagi more restrictions in the way I drive.

Also, cannot turn on the Hella HID on Singapore roads no point liao. I dont spend much time on NS highway anyway. What do you think?

Today dropped by Autobacs to kay poh kay poh a bit. Saw the Henon fog lights. Looked extremely nice. They dont seem to fix it below the front bumper, the pictures on the box shows that they actually fix it right above the bumper (in front of the grille).

But the price quoted at Autobacs is $850, not sure if its the same model as that $600 that Turbobrick mentioned.

Do U mean Hella Xenon Fog lamps? The model should be Micro DE if I'm not wrong. Xenon lights are expensive, upgrade kits for headlight (Philips brand) cost about US$699.

Turbobrick, are these Xenon lamps okay with the LTA on inspection?

Furthermore, my impression of these lamps are that it looked better on a 4 wheel drive jeep. Not that nice on family cars. Just my opinion.

Good qn. I believe they are okay as long as you cover it up while driving on Singapore roads. I went for inspection with my Uno 2 yrs ago and I had a Hella fog light installed (quite big one) and the LTA didnt say anything abt it. I have the caps on, so probably no issue if that is done.

Aftermarket Xenon (HID) are definitely illegal according to LTA. One downside of aftermarket retrofitted Xenons are the alignment of the light projection angle, a little off and U may be blinding other drivers and getting curses and swears all the way! [:p]

Greetings!

First time posting here. Absolutely agreed with the cursing part. However, IMHO, the rear fog lights is much much worse than those front fog lights.

Hi Sparetyre! Welcome to MyCarForum! [cool]

Don't U just hate it when conti cars with rear fogs (read: Bimmers) leave them on in brightly lit Singapore??? Hummmm.....where got fog ah? Problem is rear fogs are located quite high in most cars (mine as well) and it pierces right into the back driver's eyes.

When I encounter a bast**d with rear fog on endlessly I usually leave a car distance and high beam them back to say "Here light in your eyes!" [:p]

Thanks for the welcome, Turbobrick!! [:)]

Glad to have someone who shares the same view. Will try your approach the next time I encounter another of these inconsiderate drivers....

Better still if you have Xenon headlights with manual angle adjustment from the dashboard.....low beam xenon on, high beam on, angle to shine the fellow to kingdom come! [sly]

Why not go whole hog and do it 007-style, firing ice (not car audio, the solid water kind! [:p]) projectiles at the offending driver's rear foglights?? The only evidence left after the "crime" would be droplets of water...heh heh heh!! [crazy][cool]

Can we switch on fog lights in Singapore?

My impression is that fog lights can only be used in Malaysia where there is fog (ie. excuse). If not, cannot turn on.

From LTA website:

Installation of fog lamps is allowed because such lamps are designed and manufactured to project a less intense but more diffused light pattern such that visibility is enhanced under foggy conditions. Motorists however may not need to use the fog lamps locally as our roads are generally well-lit. Motorists who drive to foreign countries, may find the lamps useful.

The installation of fog lamps is only allowed if the lamps comply with LTA
