Jeffrey 1st Gear February 2, 2006 Author Share February 2, 2006 The Tribeca looks terrific, but is way too big - it is even larger than the Harrier. Thanks anyway for the suggestion. ↡ Advertisement
Dwoon 1st Gear February 2, 2006 Share February 2, 2006 Just saw a new Grand Vitara the other day, looks very nice....... price wise, I think it's probably arouind the same region as the Rav4 or CRV.

Hitman Neutral Newbie February 2, 2006 Share February 2, 2006 Just a footnote ... I am a PI thus not related to Borneo. I have the 2 wheel drive RAV4 (7 speed) and Borneo has the 4 wheel drive. The RAV4 is an awesome drive with its 2.4 powerplant though engine note is a bit rough on its first 2 gears. The Outlander for me would be ideal if its a 7 seater (personal choice). Measure up what you need ... if only a 5 seater SUV, then the RAV4 will do just nice. If you occasionally would need the extra seats, then go for the Outlander. But dont only compare price ... look at the OMV values for both cars also, then measure up its pricing.

Sturtles 6th Gear February 2, 2006 Share February 2, 2006 If you don't mind paying a little bit more, i'm sure PI can help you bring in the normal wheel base 4WD version of the 2.4L Rav4
Ivan6978 Neutral Newbie February 2, 2006 Share February 2, 2006 Bro why not bring ur wife to go and test drive the cars herself and see what she likes? Rather den comparing prices and performance and looks. I think it is better to drive something which u feel comfortable with rather then buying a car only becos it is worth it and in the end you do not feel happy driving it. Stevenshong Neutral Newbie February 2, 2006 Share February 2, 2006 In term of looks, I actually prefer the PIs model vs BM's (longer wheel base). Pity the PIs don't bring in the 4WD version, as one of my reqt is 4WD. Not sure whether are you aware that most of the PIs are bringing the CVT versus BM's AT. Since you're driving a Honda, you should know very well on CVT which is not suitable for big car like SUV.
Qwert Clutched February 2, 2006 Share February 2, 2006 I drive a CRV - my 2nd one in 4 years. Obviously I like. I did consider it as a replacement for the Harrier, but the current CRV design is already more than 4 years old and a new generation should be out in 1-2 years time. Which is newer? Your CRV or the Harrier? Maybe just swap with your wife lor... If not keep the Harrier and sell the CRV?
Jeffrey 1st Gear February 2, 2006 Author Share February 2, 2006 Anyone knows which PI can bring in the RAV4 4WD version, and what would be estimated price?
Jeffrey 1st Gear February 2, 2006 Author Share February 2, 2006 Ivan, My wife has simple tastes - SUV with high driving seat, and not too big. I'm the one that is now insisting she drives a 4WD for additional safety when driving in the wet. I appreciate your advice on test driving, but nowadays if one can get a test drive (OK with agents like BM or KM, but extremely difficult with PIs) it is usually just around a few blocks, at low speed; so actually one cannot take away much from a test drive. I usually read up on reviews (either Internet or magazines) to make a judgement.
Jeffrey 1st Gear February 2, 2006 Author Share February 2, 2006 Steven, Am aware that the BM RAV4 has 4AT whereas the PI version is with CVT. Also remember the problems that Honda had with the earlier CVTs. I'm still not very sure of the CVT but see more and more manufacturers using this technology - even for their big cars. I understand the Murano also comes with CVT; also the Mit Outlander on my shortlist is also with CVT. Hopefully the CVT is now a proven technology and the earlier bugs/problems have been corrected. Jeffrey 1st Gear February 2, 2006 Author Share February 2, 2006 Qwert, My CRV is newer - just a year old. My wife wouldn't mind taking over the CRV; the problem is I don't like the driving characteristics of the Harrier, and it is only 2WD. Again, no offence meant. I used to drive a 2WD CRV, and I can attest the 4WD version makes a big difference in driving (heavier FC though).
Ivan6978 Neutral Newbie February 2, 2006 Share February 2, 2006 Well den, wishing u all the best in finding ur next SUV for ur wife. Worst come to worst get another CRV for her...heehee
Duckduck Turbocharged February 2, 2006 Share February 2, 2006 err.. y u want 4WD in SG? u mean u always cornering alot? If u want good handling, then just get a normal saloon, not a high CG vehicle like SUV. the interior of harrier is way better than CRV imo.
Wolverine Neutral Newbie February 2, 2006 Share February 2, 2006 imo CRV not that powerful and that spare tire bulge is darn ugly ...and unsafe during a collision ....just MHO (But got VTEC!) hahaha
Jeffrey 1st Gear February 2, 2006 Author Share February 2, 2006 (edited) Our preference is a SUV. As almost all SUVs are tall, they tend to lean a lot when taking corners; at times it is somewhat scarry when doing this in the wet. Thus 4WD is a big plus - particularly in the wet. I totally agree with you that the Harrier's interior is way better than the CRV. Edited February 2, 2006 by Jeffrey ↡ Advertisement
