Wolverine Neutral Newbie February 9, 2006 Share February 9, 2006 Oh Ok. So the civic is alot of new technology. Then I wud wait a few years till they get all the bugs out of the car b4 I wud get one. Let the early buyers b the guineapigs to test the civic then. If I get one now, it wud b the accord then. Why think so much all got VTEK Can already ..i mean VTECH ...sorry spelt wrongly ...VTEC .......kinda old tech i think this vtec which happens to be my take on the vtec which the industry doesnt lack .... Pisces69 6th Gear February 12, 2006 Share February 12, 2006 Not refering to VTEC for jap cars. More the other gadgets & gizmos that they have like traction control, electronic throttle & power steering, etc. How many problems will it cause to the new buyers only time will tell. For the Koreans, VTEC is still new & needs to prove itself after a few years on the market. Also CVT can b a nightmare if it has many problems. Mikosan Neutral Newbie February 13, 2006 Share February 13, 2006 Then I suggest look at the 2.0 Si. Comes with a proven engine; no risk as the 1.8 engine is untested. In terms of accolades and reviews, the Civic shd outstrip the JDM Accord. Check the latest issue of CarBuyer on why you shd buy the 2.0 and not the 1.8. Shull Turbocharged February 13, 2006 Share February 13, 2006 (edited) no arh..VTEC is exclusive to honda only..other manufacturer have similar technology that alters valve timing but not lift.. VTEC is different from the rest because it alters both the VALVE TIMING and LIFT, while other like VVT-i just alters the valve timing nia.. oh ya, Toyota's VVTL-i alters the Lift too..so that's another UPZ for a Jap manufacturer so the industry is indeed lacking on technology which can alter both valva timing and lift.. The01 Neutral Newbie February 14, 2006 Share February 14, 2006 You're right Shull. The VTEC is Exclusive to Honda only. The best thing about VTEC is No Turbo or Super Charger needed to boost power! You can find out more about VTEC engines in this site : http://asia.vtec.net/spfeature/vtecimpl/vtec1.html Cheers!
