Hi guys

Last week, I parked my car under a lamp post at my uncovered carpark and left it there for 2 days. After 2 days, I found silver paint spots all over the car's body and mirrors/glass to my horror!! The paint color matched the lamp post. I then wrote a mail to the town council to ask if any work has been done to the lamp post and they said no, but before that the spots were not there. Now I don't know what to do. How can I get the spots removed? Attached pic is the spots as seen from the top of my car. Your help is appreciated.

One of my friend suggested using turpentine to remove but i'm just afraid it might mess up the paintwork. does the pro groomer charge more? so frustrated cos i know someone did it and i don't believe it was vandalised cos the paint drop goes across from bonnet to the back bumper nicely, as if it dropped from somewhere [mad]

Let me check with my friend & come back to you shortly [:)] IMHO, better not try turpentine if you are not really a DIY person cos later sekali mess up your paintwork and it burns a bigger hole in your pocket [:p]

if you have the small bottle of spot remover given by Tuff Kote, then it should come off easily...

i've tried it with my car and it works perfectly...

Most silver paint use for lamp post comprise petroleum resin, alu pigment and turpentine. Rub gently turpentine should be able to remove the spot.

I assume that the paint on your car is OEM. It should be able to with stand turpentine. To play save, try it on a sport where it is not easily seen to see if it works or affect the paint work.

It may need to polish your car after the spots are removed.

YUSLIZA,

U can try clay barring, ususally for over spraying can take out easily. But never

experience yours.

Clay bar do no harm to the paintwork, so why not try out see how.

Turpentine should be safe for your car's paint, but thinner is an absolute no no! Thinner is too strong, it will dissolve your original paintwork. Besides, I don't think its possible to mix thinner and water at all!

I second marcostan's suggestion of clay-barring, I believe it will get rid of those spots with minimal effort. Clay-barrng is actually quite easy, just mix some car shampoo and use as the lubricant. To clay bar the whole car will probably take you no more than 20 minutes, its the most cost effective solution to you problem IMO.
