Zyrofillica 1st Gear February 11, 2006 Share February 11, 2006 VRG = 2.0 4 cycl engine 135bhp VRM = 2.0 V6 MIVEC engine 158bhp VR = 2.0 4 cycl GDI engine 145bhp VR4 = 2.5 V6 Twin Turbo engine 280bhp Body all the same except for VR4 featuring AWD, 5 speeed Tiptronic and all the gadgets u find in at Evo 7. VR and VR4 come with VR4 full bodykit and spoiler. Too bad Vr4 stopped production longed time ago, else ill go and steal soneone's VR4 and hide it in malaysia for myself Galant 5th Gen (shark model) is the only model that mitsubishi makes that is powered by 8 different engines all over the world. Currently retailing at C&C at just under 70K.

Firstcall Clutched February 11, 2006 Share February 11, 2006 Bro, some corrections/Update to your data on Galant versions... SS= 2.0 4 cycl engine 135bhp (SOHC 4G63 engine) 1996-1998 The earliest version, some came without auto aircon but most come with it. Comes with 4 wheel disc brakes. No tiptronic auto. VRM = 2.0 V6 MIVEC engine 200bhp!!! 1998-2001 The earliest version look like SS but the later facelift comes with whiteface headlamp and VR4 bodykit. This is prob the most powerful NA 2.0 engine of its time. It has 4 spd tiptronic auto. VRG 1.8 4 cycl GDI engine 140bhp 1999-2000 The very first GDI benefitary in the Galant range. This was a landmark technology showcase that demonstrate a 1.8l can be more powerful and yet more economical than a conventional fuel injection 2.0l engine. VRG = 2.0 4 cycl GDI engine 145bhp 2000-2004 This model gradually replaced the 1.8l model. Came with 4 speed tiptronic auto. However to some extend it is lower speced in some areas compared to SS: It comes with rear drum brakes. Some batch does not even The have centre armrest for the rear seats. VR = 2.0 4 cycl GDI engine 145bhp 2003-2006? VR is using the same engine as VRG. The difference in improvements in many areas. - Most noticeably the VR4 bodykit - More agressive and slightly bulging bonnet. - reverted back the 4 wheel disc brakes - 5 rivet sports rims - larger tail pipe - Full black interior - Titanium color console panels - Expensive high contrast Optitron meters VR4 = 2.5 V6 Twin Turbo engine 280bhp 1999-2001? The most powerful of the Galant range. 4WD, AYC the usual mitsu stuff etc. Raw power, can mod to 450bhp or more. Very smooth engine. Actually there are more models and variants out there such as the 2.4l Vento and in Japan, you can choose to have 4WD for conventional models. And of cos the USA model which uses bigger engine and has different front grill and bumper treatment and a set of different rear lamp design.
Firstcall Clutched February 11, 2006 Share February 11, 2006 Even the picture posted on the so-called "EVO X" needs a longer bonnet to look like a shark-ish Galant replacement maybe JDM Galant will look so different than the USDM? unfortunately there are some news that the new 'global Galant' which will be smaller than the current USA version will still be designed and manufactured in US of A. But I guess, that is bcos USA is Galant's biggest market. How nice can it be? The American taste are simply Those ppl who designed this current Galant in USA should be . Firstcall Clutched February 15, 2006 Share February 15, 2006 rare and few.... but there still r a small numbers lurking arn. But hard to detect cos all VRs also looked similar. Only trained eyes can tell them apart.
Atlantis_boi Clutched February 16, 2006 Share February 16, 2006 VR the front bumper if I'm nt wrong is different frm VR4. Unless the owner change all to VR4 Front bumper, Rear bumper then hard to tell liao. Another obvious sign wuld b the brakes or the intercooler
